loving that even this is somehow the dems fault??
Ah sorry I’ll try to tone it down a bit then. I wasn’t really trying to imply that racism and bigotry should be ignored or that they weren’t present in a decent amount of the republican supporters and politicians. I was trying to say that some of the more vocal democrat politicians and supporters need to do a better job at differentiating between what is actual bigotry and what is just a stance which people don’t agree with. For example, all of the shit flinging by the DNC such as Hillary calling the majority of Trump supporters “a basket of deplorables” (at a time before the whole Russian thing started and some people didn’t know the full extent of how bad he was). There was also the whole Bernie Bros narrative being pushed which claimed that Bernie Sanders supporters were just a bunch of radicalized straight white guys who sometimes get violent. There was also Emma Gonzales’ speech which had a blatant mischaracterization of gun owners by saying “When adults tell me, 'I have the right to own a gun,' all I can hear is, 'My right to own a gun outweighs your student's right to live!”. Regardless of what side of the issue you’re on, I don’t think “guns > your right to live” is a commonly held viewpoint of anyone. There was also that pro NRA spokesperson who made a video basically saying “The media covering every little detail about mass shooters inspires other at risk individuals to commit them. So we should put common sense regulations on how they are allowed to report things”. In the same video, he then went on to say “Hell no that’s ridiculous. If talking about having the government place restrictions on what the media is allowed to report made you feel uneasy, then now you people in the media know how we feel when you say the government should put restrictions on what we are allowed to own.” Immediately after that video, several “journalists” and some news organizations jumped on him or took to Twitter claiming that he and the NRA wanted to put restrictions on the media as a solution to mass shootings. All of them missed the point point entirely and didn’t bother to even watch the entirety of a 4 minute video before pouncing on him with their sensationalist headlines. This prompted a response video where everyone got absolutely destroyed credibility wise. (LMAO) While Martha Coakley was still attorney general of Massachusetts, she made an incredibly ridiculous statement of “technically it’s not illegal to be an illegal in Massachusetts”. A local talk show on the radio uses that quote as part of their intro. I also don’t exactly agree with the idea of sanctuary cities/states trying to undermine federal immigration authorities by refusing to report any undocumented persons who were arrested on charges of committing crimes. Nonviolent misdemeanors or minor traffic violations I could understand, but I was under the impression that a few violent offenders slipped through the cracks because of this? Not 100% sure on that though so correct me if I’m wrong. Yeah there are a lot of those. Even though I disagree with like 95% of that stuff, I’m trying to say it’s hard for me to emphasize with the Democratic Party when their supporters and the media commonly mischaracterize some viewpoints they share. For another example, think of the Jordan Peterson interview on the gender wage gap. Aside from comparing some left leaning people to Marxists or Leninists, he didn’t really say much that would come across as entirely hardline stances or extremism. Meanwhile the interviewer is struggling to put words in his mouth in several failed attempts to paint him as either sexist or misogynistic. I know the guy isn’t really a moderate and is just good at acting like one, but my main point of bringing this up was to demonstrate the underhanded tactics which people use to paint everyone who doesn’t agree with their narrative as some sort of degenerate. Here’s the video in question if you actually want to watch the entire thing (about 30 minutes long). It’s a bit of a slow buildup though before you start seeing the smoke come out of her ears.
