No but I must say you posting a child's cartoon as a response really says a lot about you. Says a lot about most of the arguments on here. The mindset of where you see a video showing a dorm style living quarters and compare it to a concetration camp where people are murdered en masse or worked to death if not chosen for immediate execution is crazy.
There is no crueler tyranny than that perpetuated under the shield of the law and in the name of justice
t. Charles de Montesquieu
tbh it's more of a internment camp than a concentration camp but that's not any better
Or we could change the process and the law to open borders so that they can be here anyway and therefore they aren't breaking the law.
Problem solved. This law is bad. Simple as that.
The problem is most people are just overstaying visas
Then make renewing the visa a simpler process and the penalty for not getting to it in time less severe?
I don't understand how this is even remotely acceptable in our country today
This post is giving me flashbacks to wickedplayer, holy shit
Yep until you can't find a job!
Pfft, I already can't find a job. Even if more immigration make the problem worse on paper, it wouldn't be tangibly so. You know what's the bigger problem with finding jobs?
Companies getting rid of jobs. Howsabout we make more jobs, I'm sure the executives and stockholders can spare a couple million out of their yacht money to pay living wages to several hundred more people per million.
yeah i'm sure the relatively miniscule number of illegal immigrants are what's actually fucking up the job market, not everything else
What the what? More people means more workers and more workers means more disposable income to create businesses which regardless of if they fail or not, employ people and provide more jobs in general. This immigrants taking jobs argument is laughable and short sighted.
America has an abundance of jobs. We have crops rotting in the fields, construction crews pulling 20 hours overtime, employers with help wanted signs up 24/7. The problem is no companies want to pay a living wage for unskilled labor. Blaming immigrants for bad wages ignores who is truly at fault.
So, what exactly constitutes too fucking much inhumane bullshit for people like you Sickness?
If someone introduced a law to cut the hands off of people suspected of stealing would that be too much? Because this looks to be on that level and I don't like living in a place governed by The Code of Motherfucking Hammurabi. If such a stupid ass law were enforced it would still rule of law , and to be frank is pretty damn close to the level of punishment. Evil lawful activity is still evil even if it's by the letter of the law (which I'm not sure it is).
It's amazing how you manage to make worse and worse posts as the thread progresses. It's like watching that dude in Raiders of the Lost Ark melt in slo-mo.
what I want to know is why the fuck was a senator not allowed entry
By your logic, Otto Warmbier deserved to be sent to a work camp in North Korea because he 'violated their laws', despite the laws and the punishment for them needing to be changed.
That's pretty true for basically every moron who keeps defending Trump. They just get worse and worse over time and torpedo any credibility they might've had until nobody actually takes them seriously anymore.
So, the state of America today. The President of the United States refuses to condemn Neo-Nazis, insults trade partners and allies that the country depends on to survive, praises mass-murdering and genocidal dictators. Across the country, the political landscape is changing. Just as many of us predicted, more and more congressional candidates in Southern states are running on openly racist platforms - and winning their primaries against the Old Guard. GOP congressmen openly quote Nazi mouthpieces. ICE, whose primary duty had been intelligent immigration enforcement, has now turned into a sort of Gestapo. The United States has become the only country in the world to rip children from their parents at the border, with no guarantee those parents will ever see their children again. These kids are forced to stay in cramped detention facilities. We've heard stories of ICE 'losing' hundreds of these children. A likely story.
See, ethnonationalism and white supremacy in America was something that the GOP pandered to by dogwhistling. They used cute terms they couldn't be called out for that would draw in both moderate Republicans and the extreme right. What Trump's election changed is that now Republican candidates no longer have to hide their true intentions. They no longer have to dogwhistle. They can run on ethnonationalist platforms openly and brazenly, and win their primaries.
Meanwhile, you have a corrupt government selling your freedoms for financial gain. Ajit Pai killing net neutrality and suppressing dissenting votes. Tax cuts for the wealthy. The destruction of the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid.
To top things off, you have degenerates even on a forum as left-leaning as this defending the actions of the government - Claiming that separating families makes a good deterrent and that this is all the fault of the immigrants, or that Trump's myraid violations of the emoluments clause of the Constitution and myriad conflicts of interest, his using the office of the President as a means to further his own business interests, simply amount to 'capitalism.'
You know who you are.
To the rest of you, you who love your country and who are angry at what it is becoming, you who despise the influence of a foreign hostile power that is turning America towards fascism and want to see those complicit in the crimes of the govermment face justice...
This is your fucking country. The actions of your government are the responsibility of all Americans, no matter who voted for who. This November, take your country back, and punish those who would sell your liberty for personal gain. Speaking as an outsider, I loved America for the ideals it championed once. It was beautifully put into words by your Mark Twain:
For in a republic, who is "the Country"? Is it the Government which is for the moment in the saddle? Why, the Government is merely a servant--merely a temporary servant; it cannot be its prerogative to determine what is right and what is wrong, and decide who is a patriot and who isn't. Its function is to obey orders, not originate them. Who, then, is "the Country"? Is it the newspaper? is it the pulpit? is it the school superintendent? Why, these are mere parts of the country, not the whole of it; they have not command, they have only their little share in the command. They are but one in the thousand; it is in the thousand that command is lodged; they must determine what is right and what is wrong; they must decide who is a patriot and who isn't.
Who are the thousand--that is to say, who are "the Country"? In a monarchy, the king and his family are the country; in a republic it is the common voice of the people. Each of you, for himself, by himself and on his own responsibility, must speak. And it is a solemn and weighty responsibility, and not lightly to be flung aside at the bullying of pulpit, press, government, or the empty catch-phrases of politicians. Each must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, and which course is patriotic and which isn't. You cannot shirk this and be a man. To decide it against your convictions is to be an unqualified and inexcusable traitor, both to yourself and to your country, let men label you as they may. If you alone of all the nation shall decide one way, and that way be the right way according to your convictions of the right, you have done your duty by yourself and by your country--hold up your head! You have nothing to be ashamed of.
You can sit there and let your country go to shit if you don't care enough to change it. But if you are a patriot, if you love your country and the things it once stood for, if you want to make the land of the free truly live up to its name, don't sit idle. Put pressure on your representatives. Start local grassroots movements. Fight. Lest you allow your homeland to turn into another Russia - or worse.
The children that went missing, how do we know they weren't killed in mass?
Not saying their were, but how do we know?
might as well call you Captain.Braindead, more appropriate than Sgt.Sickness

You ever pirated a game or gone over the speed limit or smoked weed? If so you're a criminal too

"WHY DO YOU MAKE ME STEAL THESE CHILDREN demoRATS"
"All you have to do to make the children stop suffering is give me everything I want. This is your fault; you're making me do this."
He's literally just an abusive spouse.
Someone could correct me on this but I'm pretty certain there's no law on the books than mandates the separation of children from their undocumented parents. They're just choosing to do this.
Just to be clear, you do realize if more people enter an economy, the economy gets bigger? If the US has 200 million jobs today, adding 10 million immigrants won't mean that 10 million people will lose their jobs to immigrants. Those 10 million people need to be part of the economy to survive, and the economy has to provide goods and services for them.
The equation breaks if they're not legally employed (therefore taxes/healthcare aren't being paid for, etc) or if people are not paid liveable minimum wages in general (which is an entirely different and much bigger problem in my opinion).
It's like the lone voice of reason.
>mandates breaking up families at the border
>"WHY ARE THE DEMOCRATS BREAKING UP FAMILIES AT THE BORDER?!"
Jesus rollerblading Christ, the dissonance of this fucking clown.
So how does taking children away from their parents actually prevent people from overstaying their visas or illegally immigrating?
Blaming this disaster on trump is just flat inaccurate.
These facilities were horrifying in all the same ways during the Obama admin, too. ICE is cancerous as a whole.
