there's a lot you can do about it, fight like hell
Grouping up broad swathes of the population into one category will just make conflict more likely, it won't lead to the root causes of these dilemmas.

So the difference, according to Sessions, is Nazis were trying to keep Jews in the country, whereas the Trump administration is trying to keep immigrants out of the country. Of all the ways he could have drawn a contrast, Sessions picked that one. He did not mention the gas chambers or the starvation; he said what puts Nazis in another, worse category is that “they were keeping the Jews from leaving.” https://youtu.be/Ag1o3koTLWM

It is causing us to lose faith in ICE - which we will still need after this fucked up crisis passes. What the fuck no. ICE is the gestapo. Under bush & obama they were awful and you're mad about the straw that breaks the camel's back. ICE is like 10 years old now it's not a fact of life it's a specific new policy. You did without it before.
I'm fully expecting the Night Of Long Knives part 2 any day now.
You know what I actually like about this Trump business? Whenever someone supports the orangutan they're pretty much labeled for life as a sick disturbing human being, and I know who to stay away from.
No, we didn't. It was built from other departments which were doing all that before it existed.
GOP better move faster. http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/393051-mcconnell-backs-bill-to-keep-immigrant-families-together I will say that (and I dont think this will happen), but if ANYONE tries to play games with these kids (i.e: "Yeah we'll get the families together.... after we make a border wall ;)" or "Yeah we'll get the families together ... after CIR ;)") im gonna be livid
If you don't think that's going to happen you don't know Trump very well.
The GoP better fucking move ahead with the Orange Orangutan
Your desire may not be the reality of the situation.
If they do that they'll get primaried out by rabid Trump supporters. This is the culmination of the Republican Revolution, thanks Newt Gingrich.
If we see that this is seriously hurting the GOP politically they'll change their tune.
have you seen even a single republican show any sign of this affecting who they might vote for? :v They don't give a fuck now, they won't give a fuck later. As long as Trump doesn't target them, they won't care.
Haven't seen this posted yet, but for those wondering about the particularities of how people are attempting to seek Asylum as legally as possible and are still being detained for it, here you go. So the idea of zero tolerance under the stated policy is that we don’t care why you’re afraid. We don’t care if it’s religion, political, gangs, anything. For all asylum seekers, you are going to be put in jail, in a detention center, and you’re going to have your children taken away from you. That’s the policy. They’re not 100 percent able to implement that because of a lot of reasons, including just having enough judges on the border. And bed space. There’s a big logistical problem because this is a new policy. So the way they get to that policy of taking the kids away and keeping the adults in detention centers and the kids in a different federal facility is based on the legal rationale that we’re going to convict you, and since we’re going to convict you, you’re going to be in the custody of the U.S. Marshals, and when that happens, we’re taking your kid away. TM: Even if they crossed at a legal entry point? AC: Very few people come to the bridge. Border Patrol is saying the bridge is closed. When I was last out in McAllen, people were stacked on the bridge, sleeping there for three, four, ten nights. They’ve now cleared those individuals from sleeping on the bridge, but there are hundreds of accounts of asylum seekers, when they go to the bridge, who are told, “I’m sorry, we’re full today. We can’t process your case.” So the families go illegally on a raft—I don’t want to say illegally; they cross without a visa on a raft. Many of them then look for Border Patrol to turn themselves in, because they know they’re going to ask for asylum. And under this government theory—you know, in the past, we’ve had international treaties, right? Statutes which codified the right of asylum seekers to ask for asylum. Right? Article 31 of the Refugee Convention clearly says that it is improper for any state to use criminal laws that could deter asylum seekers as long as that asylum seeker is asking for asylum within a reasonable amount of time. But our administration is kind of ignoring this longstanding international and national jurisprudence of basic beliefs to make this distinction that, if you come to a bridge, we’re not going to prosecute you, but if you come over the river and then find immigration or are caught by immigration, we’re prosecuting you. https://www.texasmonthly.com/news/whats-really-happening-asylum-seeking-families-separated/
I'm glad that @TimTimTommy is ensuring we have lots of milk so our bones are strong and healthy. Thanks a bunch!
He's been spamming bottle ratings on anyone who doesn't support America in its bold new fascist look in several threads such as this one. Because when you run out of arguments but are still mad about your cult leader being justifiably shat on, spam ratings, everyone knows pixels speak louder than words.
I feel like at this point it's because they've backed themselves into a corner by supporting this sociopath. On one hand, they've pissed off the Left more than ever, so there's no trying to sway them, and on the other they have rabid cultists who want Trump in charge, not the GOP, so they can't change their tune lest they get eaten alive by them. So at this point if they even try to show a little backbone, they're fucked from office, so their taking the cowardly approach and trying to save themselves.
Given that we've already seen people chuckling amongst themselves about it by giving themselves usernames like 'bond007' they're thrilled to be the villain because they think they're untouchable.
more than half of republicans support this policy. This isn't a mistake. This isn't a goof. This isn't them being pressured into going along with the trumby. This is what they are. This is what they have always been.
A lot of them are being pressured - they just don't understand that they're being pressured.
Republicans are completely and totally self serving. Their primary goal since the southern strategy has been to enrich and protect themselves as much as possible, no matter what the cost is to everyone else. They don't want to protect children, they want to protect their children. They don't want free expression, they want free expression for themselves. They don't dislike authoritarianism, they're just terrified someone else will get their foot in the door before they do. They don't dislike the mistreatment of women or religious law, they dislike other people mistreating their women, and the law not being their religious law. If the government started rounding up immigrants for execution, half of Republicans would shrug and the other half would buy tickets.
Republicans aren't just self-serving. Self-serving is when you care about your needs above the needs of others. All human beings are self-serving to a degree. What we're dealing with right now is something much, much worse. There are millions of Republican voters who are looking at the current situation with a smile. They see immigrants as their enemies, and take pleasure in their suffering. The Republican platform is institutionalized sadism.
I think there is a valid point to be made that it's important to not use "sociopath" when you mean "total fucking dick". Being an uncaring selfish twat is not exclusively the domain of sociopaths.
Its not, even if it was, he would run to T_D and post a screenshow showing how he owned the snowflakes.
You know, you can actually speak up instead of just watching from the shadows before throwing out a rating and running away again. Coward.
This whole thing is a fucking nightmare on so many levels and has the entire world's eyes on our country, looking down on us for the pieces of shit we've become because of the current Administration, and those that still support it. Would someone be kind enough to give me a quick rundown of why people are claiming that this policy was put in place by the Obama Administration/Democrats? I'm sure it comes down to a technicality thing, and I know that Trump could immediately put a stop to it, I'm just wondering how it happened in the first place.
I've reported on discord so let's find out
you voted for the least competent candidate of them all end of discussion
