I think some people are desperate to fall for it. Trying to prove something by loudly boasting that they are "listening to both sides". Like it gives them intellectual superiority because they "challenge the common narrative". Then there are a bunch of people stupid or insecure enough to guzzle it up and think it's wisdom.

This is what happens when a country with shit (mental) health care, shit social services, god awful income inequality and historically terrible cultural/ethnic diversity in media has to consider the possibility that being white isn't special. These people are never going away.

I'll be the first to say, I have no guilt for slavery, it was apart of the world at the time, and I'm sure there was whites who didn't like it back then, and I can also see how society shits on whites, but I can also hold the shit in my hands while acknowledging the fact that blacks, and others races have gone through a lot of shit too and still do to this day. I do not believe confed momuments should be destroyed, they should be moved and respected, regardless of what side the soldiers were on they were American brothers and they should be remember for their courage to go and fight in a war against their own kin. Just like I don't believe every German soldier was a Nazi, I don't believe every confederate was a evil person. Wish we could put aside our difference, and stop trying to one up eachother. Blacks and Whites both, I see it everyday trying to act better than one another, rather than coming together. Basically, and I've said it once before...everyone wants to be Malcom X, no one wants to be King.

To give the police in Charlottesville credit where it's due: the terrorist murder that occurred there was more to do with incompetence. Police roadblocks were stretched very thin, and that only got worse once the nazi rally was declared an illegal assemblage and they started busting it up. To be specific, the road on which Heather Heyer was murdered had a single wooden barricade that was watched by a single officer and car, said officer was a former elementary school liaison who was on her first day back after taking leave with a broken arm. When the police started busting up the main riot she panicked and radioed in to command requesting she either get backup or reposition, command allowed her to drive out, but neglected to inform the officer in charge of roadblocks, and so no one was sent to the now abandoned barricade. This created a gap in the perimeter, and we know how that ended.

Silver lining is some of these guys go full White Supremacy and feel confident flaunting it only to be scared shitless in public when they get outed and lose their jobs because of it like last time.

Hope the DC police do a better job cracking down on the fuckheads that bring guns to this rally than the Charlottesville PD did

Well this time it's in Washington DC, near the White House even. I have never seen more police in my entire life than when I was in DC. You could see cars from up to three-four different police departments on the same street. Metropolitan Police, Capitol Police, Secret Service Police, FBI Police, the list goes on.

Play stupid games (identity politics) and win stupid prizes (nazi rallies), going after a group of people for some perceived original sin was always going to produce blow back, and this is the result of that, the whole thing is completely and totally ridiculous and a waste of time.

One of the very few things that can't be changed by money is culture and the only companies that have effected it in any way are companies like apple, ford or google which required enormous upfront costs to do so and have had a marginal effect on politics at best. This is more to do with Nazis getting out of the dark age of skinheads that put off all but the most indoctrinated aside and started peddling their message as "we're not racists because we don't look like racists but we're just fighting for your rights you always had" message that the republicans often use but with a fascist twist. No one man is responsible for a political movement like this especially considering most people with money want nothing to do with Nazis because that puts them in a bad light so this is largely a grassroots campaign. On an unrelated note I'm not sure what a fascist state would achieve. Robots and automation eliminate any need for slavery and the U.S. is the most heavily automated market in the world, even the south which still uses state sponsored systemic prison slave labor as a way of getting around the 13th amendment doesn't need slave labor, they choose to which makes it worse. Chattel literally cannot compete with machines in this day and age. Discrimination is seen as needless hate in today's world as well so the only thing this movement could be about is obtaining power at the expense of others.
