bOtH sIdEs ArE aS bAd As EaCh OtHeR!1 It is indeed tiresome. It's like when news shows invite 2 speakers to discuss global warming, one a global warming scientist and the other a big oil shill and treats then like their views are of equal value. Or when a Trump sycophant comes on to rattle about Obama putting CIA surveillance drones in the water to turn the frogs gay and they're not dismissed as the hollow loons they are. It's this Liberalism where we have to pretend all views are equal which is the problem imo. Once you do that and let sophists share platforms with people of actual merit you're validating their bs rhetoric.
What's the definition of "fake news" for this poll? Because "fake news" in a lot of mainstream media is kind of true. It's misleading headlines usually, if you read the article it'll go into detail. "fake news" in the Trump sense is just nonsense though, the only place really doing that is Fox.
From my experience, it's more of a combination of Fox News, Breitbart, Infowars, and a jumble of other garbage conspiracy sites. Basically they trust anything that wears its far right bias on its sleeve. They are literally living in an alternate reality where Obama is a gay Kenyan Muslim Marxist sent to destroy America from within, his wife is transgender and was born a man, and his kids were forcefully abducted from their real parents. And somehow, even in retirement, they're all part of the shadow government conspiracy to deny Trump his rightful presidency. I'm afraid the modern internet literally broke these peoples' minds. They're typically old baby boomers and not very smart, and are fundamentally unable to discern fact from fiction when being exposed to such vast amounts of information on the web. Combine that with deep seated racism, homophbia, and assorted other prejudices, as well as occasional religious fervor, and you have the most dangerous voting demographic in the country. These people are literally why we can't have nice things in this country - they are the lunatics running the asylum.
These numbers wouldn't be so high if the media wasn't legitimately terrible. It's not like everyone woke up and decided not to trust the media. It's been a long time coming.
DT calling journalists the enemies of america don't help tho
Not at all. But it's like the boy who cried wolf. The media has been biased for so long that now when they try to criticize Trump on something tangible, he can just scream "fake news!" and it will land with a lot of people.
News has gotten so cruddy in the recent years. Most articles I read have extremly outlandish headliness and their content is usually a paragraph at best with no sources. Even the news posted here half the time was written with the headline in mind only. I don't know how you even fix this issue. It's been on my mind quite a bit. You almost would need new constitutional amendment regulating news but I can't see anyway of doing that without getting into dangerous territory.
