Canadian restaurant flooded with bad reviews after kicking out man with MAGA hat

Except the War on Terror was using small amounts of people in black sites and hidden torture sites all over the globe
Capturing large amounts of immigrants on the US border, one of the most monitored in the world by activists, and then taking them to a suspiciously large camp or site would be hard to do with it being sketchy as fuck
Not to mention the fact that the War on Terror taught that lesson and it would be far quicker to see what they're trying to do
Also this is still extremely hyperbolic and fictional, your line about "convincing the public" doesn't make sense considering that half of the nation at least will always be against Trump and his policies
Another big question is, how would they get away with it on asuch a large scale whilst being watched by the world?
With the child camp scandal bringing international attention anything like this would be absolutely impossible in this decade.
though there are people alive today that were around when lynchings were commonplace.
100 years in the future i mean not the past
To be honest, ignoring absolutely everything else, that is a shitty policy and reason enough to consider a maga hat offensive. The US was directly involved in a huge portion of the destabilization in many regimes in latin america the last few decades, it absolutely is our problem.
Do note I'm not trying to dispute you on the rest here, I don't think death camps as they existed in nazi germany would exist here either. Likewise death camps weren't the only thing that nazis did that was a human rights catastrophe.
I don't want to come off as the enlightened centrist but both sides have been coming up with bad points here.
The following behind the MAGA hat as a symbol is too broad for it to fit nicely in the Nazi ideology, though granted most people I've seen wearing a MAGA hat were total shitheads I wouldn't go as far as treating it like a Swastika.
On the other hand saying you can't compare something to Nazis unless they are actively exterminating the lesser races is a lot like saying the KKK doesn't really exist because we haven't had any proper lynchings lately. Just because we aren't in the middle of a Holocaust doesn't mean Nazi ideals don't exist in this day and age.
While death camps are always gonna be a big jump, they have reason to systematically dismantle the rights of immigrants, if it's pushed as being tough on illegals, which Trump & Stephen Miller were keen on making the midterms about. America First and all that. Miller has attacked legal immigrants as well, and some of his rhetoric was echoed by Trump in the State of The Union. Combine that with the fact he's already antagonized illegals not only as rapists and thieves, but as a significant political power that affected his prized 2016 race, plus the consolidation of powers that may come with a Supreme Court appointment, and I see a scenario where the comparisons are really not that out there. I also worry about cheapening powerful terms, just, make sure you draw a line where you'll start to worry more about the immigrants themselves, and less about the hyperbole
I'm glad we have these experts letting us know that history repeating itself in this way is impossible. I'm sure they're making educated statements, not just feeling based guesses
"There's no way Trump will win"
"There's no way Trump won't face consequences for this scandal"
If you don't think the US is on an extremely dangerous path right now just because they aren't literally executing people (yet), you're ignoring a lot of history.
Everyone thinks Germany can't happen again because Nazis and Hitler were monsters - well guess what, they were normal humans, like you and me. Don't ignore the effect propaganda can have on regular people.
american peace will end soon. we're completely incapable of solving our issues with discussion, and things will descend completely into violence.
A big economic crisis that lets the far-right to rise and do xenophobic stuff would never happen again? I'm afraid you aren't up to date to how the world is turning to.
Germany was also an amalgamation of corruption, politics and poor administration. Hell, the main reason they had to invade Poland ( after Austria and Czechoslovakia ) was basically to gain resources and money due the gallopant debt they had after a decade of massive spending ( stupid Republic of Weimar, why they didn't invert into the country? Guess why ).
USA is degenerating very quickly and if is not stopped now, we can get big problems really soon.
Sometimes I feel like most English speakers have just forgotten what "comparison" means. Two things don't have to be equal for a comparison to be helpful.
This thread didn't start with a comparison. It started with saying that wearing a MAGA hat is the same thing as wearing a Nazi armband. That's not a comparison, that's equivalence, and people are actually defending it.
How on earth did the conversation go from somebody wearing a dumb hat to implying that the United States of America will commit genocide and enslave blacks. Supporting Trump is not supporting Hitler. This is why there is so much discourse in the country. You people equate each other to commies and nazis. If somebody is wearing a MAGA hat the chances that he supports the literal genocide of illegal immigrants are near 0. Can we as a group please stop taking things to this extreme or else we will never be able to agree with one another.
It did, and I absolutely agree with the first three words of the post I quoted. Saying they're the same is ridiculous. But saying they can't be compared is just as ridiculous. I think the current situation has some similarities that are worth pointing out.
Just because we aren't mass executing them doesn't mean it isn't similar
Tell me where we stop being America and where we start being Nazi Germany in the following list of changes:
(00) Illegal immigration is costing American jobs; they're also criminals and rapists (the majority of them).
(01) We must be tougher on illegal immigrants.
(02) To deter illegal immigration, we need to show them they're not welcome here.
(03) To show them they're not welcome, we will prosecute all of those who cross our borders illegally.
(04) Since we're prosecuting everyone, we are going to take all of the children away from their mothers.
(05) Unintentionally, we have lost many of the children who were taken from their mothers.
(06) It seems that we put the people who have been charged and found guilty of sex trafficking in charge of the camps we're putting people in to prosecute them; we will correct this, we promise.
(07) We aren't allowing anyone into these facilities without a great deal of notice to not allow people to use these folks as political props.
(08) Alright, fine, we'll stop taking children away from mothers - however, we should indefinitely detain them since they're not being deterred enough.
(09) Our courts are too clogged to efficiently deal with the flood of new cases, so we should do mass trials.
(10) We need tougher immigration laws, to that end we'll make crossing the border to traffic children a crime punishable by indefinite detention while we get our laws sorted out, so as to prevent further children from being traffic'd.
(11) We don't have enough border security guards to catch everyone that comes through - so we need to call on the national guard while we gear DHS up to properly deal with our borders.
(12) Traffic-men are not being deterred by indefinite detention - we need to send a stronger message. 8 children were killed when a traffic-er was caught by ICE agents, we need to separate them from the rest of the jail population and put them in their own detention center.
(13) There's been too much death, injustice, and bloodshed from members of violent gangs and so forth on our border. As a result, we must militarize it - we should kill them before they kill us.
(14) ICE is reporting that trafficers are now aligning themselves directly with MS13 to conduct violent attacks on our borders to get themselves through it. As a result, we are changing the law from indefinite detention to death.
(15) Our borders are being destabilized by constant conflict, so now we are closing them to all traffic until the situation calms down; we shouldn't have to deal with other nations' problems.
(16) We withdraw from the UN because we shouldn't be forced to deal with other nations' problems.
(17) We write our own accords and laws regarding migrants and the sort now that we're withdrawn from the UN. Immigrating to America while its borders are closed will be treated with harsh penalties and fines as you are invading sovereign territory.
(18) There's been a surge in people trying to cross our border and they're now pouring into the United States. As a result, we are giving ICE and the national guard the authority to fire warning shots at anyone who attempts to come close to the border.
(19) A Mexican Invader, fearing for his life, killed a family after illegally crossing the border in ICE's attempt to capture him. He is on the run for some time and, once caught, he is sentenced to execution and a new policy is introduced wherein anyone caught fleeing from the border without papers will be shot on sight to protect American citizens.
(20) Mexico is refusing to accept the return of MS13 gang members and their affiliates to their country and our prison population on the border is well over capacity. Guards are being killed routinely. The President authorizes a policy wherein any person in detainment who acts violently towards the guards or staff may be dealt with summarily - authorizing lethal force to protect the guards' lives, the staffs' lives, and the prisoners' lives.
(21) Despite the new policy, a guard is killed protecting the lives of those in detainment because he refused to fire on an MS13 collaborator - leading to the subsequent escape of hundreds of violent prisoners.
(22) The President, expressing remorse, orders in the wake of this national tragedy for ICE to collaborate with the FBI and DHS to track down, locate, and apprehend all of those who escaped. Meanwhile, in an only somewhat unpopular decision, he orders that all Aliens who are rejected by Mexico be dealt with by our Justice system.
(23) As more tragedies occur, the President demands we become harsher and tougher against our common enemy, the violent aliens invading our borders, and so declares that anyone caught attempting to even approach our border without advance notice to border patrol of their location and purpose and supplied papers will be shot on sight to prevent further American bloodshed.
Special detention camps for illegal immigrants*
Bruh you already called them concentration camps, is that not worrying enough as it is?
But the post you're replying to is about the post where someone is annoyed about comparing what's happening now to the holocaust. Not the first post in the chain.
Don't forget the most egregious one that already happened: Tell illegal immigrants that if they sign their own deportation letter, they will be reunited with their family.
