By definition illegal immigration is volatile and nebulous, the best you can do is screen it but not stop it. Especially not in a country as massive as the US where borders span across miles of uninhabited wasteland. Furthermore, companies do not compete for existing workers for the skills they need if the skills in question are low enough, which is 99% of jobs out there; high-wage, high-qualification jobs are few and far between and even then companies will do the best they can to obtain the absolute best return on investment. You cannot realistically hope for the free market to increase wages for low-qualification jobs, especially in services or manual labor, just because you managed to get rid of 5% of those workers, assuming all of them go which is impossible. The ones who remain will have to work harder for the same wage and efforts will be made by the companies to retain the profits if they cannot acquire more cheap workforce.

The point of replying to people like Boilrig isn't entirely to change their mind, it's just as much to give people reading the argument contrasting points, perspectives, and information You won't convince every zealot, but it doesn't hurt to make the effort, especially when you've got an audience You're probably not gonna change his mind, but you might give someone following the argument some new things to think about and expose them to multiple perspectives they might not have been exposed to otherwise
