• DIY Guns : Landmark Legal Shift Opens Pandora's Box for Homemade Guns

TIL wanting to make guns at home == being a sick fuck that wants to see naked children getting raped.
I would like to assert that the vast majority of guncrimes in the U.S. are more to do with the root cause of poverty and disenfranchisement in Afro-American communities than the availability of firearms. If you helped to combat poverty and poor living conditions in the areas most effected that would do far more good than banning or restricting private ownership of guns.
Please try reading the actual sources. It's not good for your argument if you cherry pick like everyone else does. Link to his actual paper btw. https://firearmrights.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Langmann-Report.pdf It's only analyzing three laws passed by Canada, C-51, C-17 and C-68, and is neither a meta-analysis nor exhaustive even in its own scope. Nor can we call the report completely impartial as Langmann has "had a history of advocacy against the gun registry" and is also apparently a member of the Canadian NRA. Sounds like vested interest to me. In the paper he also lies, by saying there is a substitution effect for guns when it comes to suicide, when the majority of research shows that to not be the case, and I've included sources up there. There's also papers rebutting his assertion that C-51 hasn't had an effect on suicide rates. It's a sub-par article by a less-than-reputable scientist who's relatively active in politics and has a vested interest in less gun control. I may not have the expertise to directly rebut his methodology, but I can get an overview of Canadian statistical research into the subject... 2) Czech. Concealed and open carry is not the most popular form of license. A, B and C permits together make up more than D and E permits. It also has a strict system of requirements for getting a firearm and trading firearms that America doesn't have, with its backyard deals and less background checks. For example, in America you need three prior DUIs within 10 years to be ineligible for a gun(might depend on state), in the land of Czech it's one DUI within 3 years. A class weapons are for collection only and can't be carried or shot, B and C category has to be registered at a police station. The Shall Issue's you're talking about are harder to get than in America. You're lying through your teeth if you say CR has "fairly liberal gun laws" compared to America. It's fairly liberal when compared to Europe as a whole, not America. 3) You're just throwing anecdotal examples without any research. At least I put some effort into reading some scientific papers on the fucking subject. 4) This isn't a scientific paper... It's basically a blog post in which most of its sources are already pro-gun sources (Like the More Guns, Less Crime book, which is a farce in the field) In any case you're just making the same points over and over again. Yes, there are other factors which increase and decrease gun crime and violent crime, but ownership of guns is also statistically significant as I've explained with direct quotes from reputable scientific sources several times by now. Though experience shows proper science falls on deaf ears when you're already assumed your conclusions before you even start.
The forum has no rules anymore. The only rule we have is "treat others the way you want to be treated". So BDA is within his right to throw unjustified claims and ridiculous remarks, just as everyone else is within their right to call him out for such stupid bullshit.
I'm pleased I'm no longer the left leaning Tudd though @Big Dumb Patriot I would encourage you to take a good long break from the internet.
Acting like a shrieking mimsy isn't going to get to the heart of the problem. All you're doing is making BDA feel more vindicated in his views and disenfranchising the others around you. I feel like "duh just talk him to death lol XD" is a punk-ass pussy bitch move but honestly in these circumstances, knowing how BDA works, it's best to legitimately talk to him on-the-level rather than just scream about how he's THE NEW TUDD. Like, lol, fuck, y'all spouting some righteous bull shit with that take.
If they get a SIG-550 blue prints up on there, I'll shell out as much money as I can give this man.
Lol. There was a thread a while back where people were sending death threats to each other. Nobody was banned. You think they care about BDA acting like a spoiled child who has to share his toys?
Yeah mang, we just out here knockin' some hoes in place, bruh. Gotta keep our bitches in a line, ya know what I mean mane? Or, you know, myself and others, have called him out on his increasing bias and bullshit. You can go back to the thread that caused him to get demodded if you need proof of that. Until he can actually converse and debate with other people civilly and professionally, he should keep getting knocked down a peg. He isn't stupid, he knows what he is doing. It's an active decision he makes.
You're right, but that doesn't mean you have to act like histrionic fucking children when someone is going too far. Having some level of social decorum is expected on all places on the internet, regardless of obscurity. And for what it's worth I'm in agreement that BDA's gone upriver.
Look, I don't know Joey. Maybe I've got the wrong read on him. My comments here are based purely on the few interactions with him I've had on the forums wherein he discusses being part of armed militias, made comments on building bombs, discussed taking out power grids, praised guns, and blah blah blah. I got the impression that he was the same type of "militia" wacko as the armed extremists who took over that wildlife refuge a few years ago. If those of you who actually know this guy are saying that's unfair and inaccurate, then I'll concede that I probably rushed to an unfair judgment based on bad first impressions, and that I should have taken the time to actually talk with the guy before writing him off like that. Sorry, Joe. That was uncool.
Like I said, obscure internet forum. This isnt parilment man. BDA acted like a supreme asshole, and has been for a while this is just the epitome of it, so he got called out on it. Quit acting hight and mighty over Internet arguments.
Those 3 laws are the 3 pieces of gun control legislation in Canada. That is what our gun laws are based on. Naturally, if you are trying to analyze the effects of gun control, you want to see how the gun control laws affected homicide. They didn't. You are dismissing his research simply because you don't want it to contradict your opinion, rather than his methodology of analyzing the data. Here's another pieces of research on the topic, http://www.sfu.ca/~mauser/papers/StatsCan/BN58-Final.pdf though I expect you to dismiss this paper as well, since you seem keen on doing that to any research that doesn't support the idea of stricter gun control. Further paper showing gun control doesn't reduce domestic homicide: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/259454227_Lethal_Firearm-Related_Violence_Against_Canadian_Women_Did_Tightening_Gun_Laws_Have_an_Impact_on_Women%27s_Health_and_Safety?_sg=1-9VtUoZUmPhGM7nrYr4qyzN8s3vXTICA9MAxOA_OokBUroOaVEv_fcxenxMTbM-ZFVbwZTvIictJzs As for suicide, Hanging is the most popular method, and has been since 1992 https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/pub/82-624-x/2012001/article/chart/11696-02-chart2-eng.htm Suicide rate is relatively stable too, while we do see a drop from the high of 15.1/100k in 1983 to 10.7/100k in 2009, https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/pub/82-624-x/2012001/article/chart/11696-02-chart1-eng.htm we see a rise now with it being around 11/100k to 12/100k for the last 5 years, Deaths and age Additionally, here is a paper suggesting a substitution effect between firearms and hanging: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/5407219_Changes_in_Suicide_Methods_in_Quebec_between_1987_and_2000_The_Possible_Impact_of_Bill_C-17_Requiring_Safe_Storage_of_Firearms?_sg=a0sVKj1_MozucbfG-GAKRdDzxviTvkm-Qx2N77u9BX3E6jEYh9fNd10-7lk4veApYwy4XZxqUcd9KRg And, as expected, you just outright dismiss Lott as a source.
As someone who likes to plan attacks on infrastructure and build untraceable guns for fun I feel a little attacked by some of the comments in this thread
Everyone knows that if Joey wasn't a fucking wimp and a POSER he wouldn't be targeting power plants or some similarly weak shit, he would instead be planning to detonate Dunkin' Donuts franchises in the Southwest it has been spoken since ye olden times that America Runs On Dunkin and they are thus a legitimate target in the civil strife to come
Holy strawman batman! I'm saying that if you make downloading or possessing the files themselves illegal then youd have to employ the same policing tactics as you do with gun control
Cody Wilson is such an interesting figure. I think im gonna write a paper about him
if you judge people this quickly I'm glad you aren't mod anymore
It's best too not blood dwell in the water, for it only spreads plague among the shores. I accept the apology, and lets just try not to get at each others throats alright?
