That's a lot of moving homes.
Yes, North Carolina made it to list. And thanks to Charlotte.
Will need a new amendment to address how the Congress works to avoid a totally Dem controlled house and GOP controlled senate.
Not really surprising. Good chunk of nice retirement real-estate in nowheresville places in the future probably.
The house is disproportionately granting more influence to the votes of people in the middle of nowhere. Those tend to be red states.
Apportionment means that the grey states will get one or two reps while California and New York get like 65 each, Texas and Florida 50 each.
I don't even think the house is proportional right now, states are guaranteed 1 representative but some of their population is lower proportionally to the amount granted to California. And then they get 2 senators which is a huge joke. Our government is honestly garbage and should be rewritten from the ground up, but that'll never happen.
It uses a very strange and arcane system I don't understand. The bicameral system was intentional to compromise between the populous north states and less populous south states. WRT the electoral college, that would be tilted towards Dem even more with the fptp state elector system. California and New York are a default 89 Dem electoral votes already, Texas will get bluer, possibly a swing state. Florida may continue to be an anomaly because of the retired population.
Among many other reasons if the constant news articles are of any indication.
Florida will turn more blue as time passes. The old are, well, old, and shall face a decline over the next 20 years.
What about a Silicon Prairie type situation where more people from the coasts move inland for some sort of reason?
damn, didn't know that many people lived in Arizona
nice to see ohio is growing again, we have been loosing seats for 50 years or so
Giving in to the wishes of the violent few is ironic coming from the nation that takes pride in not negotiating with terrorists.
Suprised Michigan made the list tbh. There's only a small handful of large cities here while the rest are small towns. I was thinking about this as well how most of the time when you think of places to live it's usually on the edges of the country.
You've watched too much television. That is not, nor ever has been, a policy of the US.
Pheonix is the 7th largest city in the country, for some reason.
Come on, not this shit again... I get the feeling this "tyranny of the majority" shit gets drilled into American kids' skulls early at school with how relentlessly it's brought up. What you call "tyranny of the majority" is simply democracy. Your fucky system is just political favouritism, there are many minorities with specific political interests which get drowned out by the interests of the majority, so why should people from the countryside be the only ones to get their vote boosted? If you don't want agrarian people to have incoherent policies be forced on them by urban citizens, then simply shift those political powers further down to lower levels of the government. That's not the same thing as arbitrarily giving the former more representation at the federal level.
The only way I can see reform happening with the US Government is a mass election of genuine reformists or an armed insurrection and which of the two is more likely at this stage is beyond me. Though it's clear at this stage the whole system needs clearing out.

Florida will turn more blue as time passes. Quite literally when you consider global warming.
It's miserable already because it feels like NC isn't able to keep up with the influx of population as far as infrastructure is concerned.
Well, Its sort of depends of how state's highway system and some county government pay the infrastructure to keep up state's population boom.
If republicans and old angry white guys are the minority, why can't we just get together on the playground and push them over and take their lunch money like ffs
It's unsettling that older white males will have a say in the country's voting system? Or am I missing something?
It's unsettling that they will have a disproportionate say in the country's voting system. More so than ethnic minorities or liberals, who will make up the majority of voters but will be under-represented in the Senate
And very clearly First Past The Post voting method is biggest problem of all.
The biggest problem of all is money.
Yes that and I rather done of letting this cursed voting system this country back in hellish loop.
