drama today at the courthouse as judge cyke lon bee postponed the trial, stating "listen lady I know he raped you but if you're going to keep being so us vs. them we aren't getting anywhere"
Woo a Nazi hypothetical. Great.
I'm not typing out a proper answer to that because it would take me pages to do it, so go read "Soldiers: German POW's on Fighting, Killing, and Dying". The issue isn't so black and white. With that said, with the knowledge of history on my side I can of course say the Nazi party was evil. They were literally waging wars of extermination. Comparing them, theorizing, or coming up with loaded hypotheticals, is a poor comparison.
The Republican party as a basis isn't terrible, it's the men and women who man it that are the problem, just like the Democrat party.
I want to fix this problem so I go out and vote and try to be cordial during internet discussions, instead perpetuating divisive politics which is going to be the absolute bane of this nation.
What the fuck is a party besides the men who man it?
Party doctrine. Ideals. You know, things you could find out if you googled "Republicans Wikipedia"
Quite the irony you’re sitting on the high horse touting a “moral compass” while defending a party that currently has at least three white supremacists running for it, ruined mental healthcare and is taking away the right for women to choose.
Get your head out of your ass.
Your ideals are dying mate, and they likely aren't going to come back, supporting it in it's current state is supporting the current party leadership, not some fancy ideals that the party may or may not have once held.
Which mean nothing if the people in charge refuse to stand by them.
I'm entirely willing to be civil. If someone wants me to explain my position, I'm entirely willing to calmly and concisely explain what it is and provide access to the sources that I use to justify my conclusion. And if that person has an argument for why the conclusion I reach isn't justified by the evidence provided, or for why my information might not be reliable, that's a conversation I'm willing to have as well.
My position is that the GOP is a toxic cess pool of fascists and kleptocrats, and if I had the opportunity I would have it dismantled. Even by force, if necessary.
Now, if you want to talk about whether or not that conclusion is justified, sure. Let's have a calm, non divisive discussion. But if all you have to say is "don't be mean it'll just make the people locking up children madder", then of course I don't give a fuck :v
just because you're anti-republican doesn't mean you're pro-democrat btw, idk why you're acting like the two things are mutually exclusive lol
I'm not defending anyone.
I'm asking you all not to be divisive shitlords. Thats it. If you don't like the Republican party fine, or the Democrats. I don't care. What I don't want you to do is play into divisive party politics and further empower your political opponents.
I'm not even a Republican for gods sake.
I'll drop it after this because I'm clearly clogging up the thread. But every time one of you calls the Republicans "evil" or "the bad guys" or whatever flavor of the day term it is, you're just empowering them. Come November when seats are up for reelection, Republican attack ads are going to start running with videos of Maxine Waters asking Democrats to harass MAGA cap wear-ers, and other similar videos. And all you're doing is supporting that by giving them ammunition. So congrats, have fun shooting yourselves in the foot and continuing to wonder why your party of choice can't win seats anymore.
This. Perfect is the enemy of good. Political parties have every incentive to be corrupt, I would be absolutely stupefied if the democrats weren't.
The GOP aren't just corrupt. They're an active threat to global stability, my life, and the lives of those I care about. If the DNC is a house infested with termites, the GOP is a chemical weapons facility leaking anthrax into the water supply.
I didn't call you pro-Republican tho. 🤔
I'm perfectly willing to explain my position to a nazi. I'm also perfectly willing to kill them to prevent them from gaining power.
the allies had this figured out in the 40's my guy
The Republicans imprison, harass, and attack an entire race, they fight LGBT and women's rights at every corner, they ban people of a specific religion, they insult and degrade relations with useful and prominent allies while encouraging tyrannical rules all while shouting to their base to incite violence and hatred.
The sad thing is none of what I just said is hyperbole, it's literally all happening right now. If there was ever a time to be divisive then it's now. Any sane person that isn't motivated by hatred of someone that isn't like themselves can see that.
The GOP wasn't always so evil, but they are now and it's time to accept that. They're bad people empowering bad people, there is no good left there. And that's not a good thing for anyone, regardless of your political views.
Let's just humor your argument for a second and ignore the fact that the Republicans are no longer the party of conservationism, but the party of Trump, and that their platform is more or less moot at this point.
I find their platform reprehensible, far more so than the Democrat platform. The Republican doctrine is voodoo economics that seem purpose built to drive income inequality, a regressive social policy doctrine, financial deregulation, and environmental policy that runs contrary to science. Their two largest victories in the past 10 years have been raising healthcare costs and granting the wealthy a massive tax cut that only a fraction of which is going to the working and middle class. Completely ignoring the actual human beings who represent and legislate of execute law for the Republican party, I fundamentally believe that the Republican party doctrine hurts America, and as bad as the Democrats can be some times, your egregiously poor reasoning that "both are corporate stooges so they are equally bad stop complaining about them or the Republicans will in" isn't going to convince me otherwise.
The most negative post about the actual headline is "disgusting and disappointing", and the actual posts condemning it are outnumbered by the amount of posts playing devils advocate or outright defending it.
At least seano12 is funny. When you try and troll its boring and sad.
i like how bribery is so built into politics that 40 thousand dollars is just a measly token of good will designed to "potentially open dialogue" about preserving the habitability of the fucking planet
and by like I mean I'm vomitting
You should probably go back to spamming ratings in this section cause this is just embarrassing.
just casually tweeting about paying politicians money so they will listen to him when he says we need to stop melting the ice caps or lower taxes and increase deregulation
If I promise to be "open to dialogue" do you think Elon Musk will pay off my student loans.
Elon donates to parties that benefit his businesses. He donated to Marco Rubio because he has considerable dealings in Florida. Elon Musk doesn't support conservatives and if you think so you are a moron.
that's exactly why him donating to conservatives is so colossally retarded
American politics is pay to play. Loads of businesses donate to both. It's not ideal but it's reality. Also not all conservatives are Trump. Sometimes you need to work with conservatives to get business in other states or for deals like building a factory or something else. Elon's lobbying force is microscopic compared to his competition which is why I can't legally buy a Tesla from a Tesla store in Texas.
Elon has done more than any man on Earth to promote electric vehicles. If $40,000 allowed him to do that then I say that's a small price to pay.
IMO 'donating' to politicians to make sure your business doesn't get regulated is worse
It's a problem with the system in general. Not with Musks businesses.
It shouldn't be forgotten that Gates was an extremely unethical and cut-throat businessman. Simply put, it's not possible to ethically become a billionaire without inherting it.
Gates is reformed and does a hell of a lot of good now, but not so much while he was bringing up Microsoft.
