This is completely ridiculous. People here aren't and weren't defending CNN at any point, it's pretty universally accepted around here that they're pretty subpar so say the least. Overall, FP is decently critical of CNN. CNN isn't nearly at the level of awfulness of Fox. Fox is pure propaganda at this point. This is a false equivalency CNN isn't left-wing anyway. Full stop. You're using another single outlet to generalize all mainstream media as being awful. There are plenty of respectable outlets out there (AP, Reuters, NYT, BBC, etc.) Your schtick about trying "to prove that Facepunch has a left leaning bias" is pretty shit, because your argument is flawed at its core.
As long as we're rising to the whataboutist bait I think I need a list of what outlets qualify as 'all mainstream media'. I feel like I only ever see CNN as the golden example of what's wrong with 'all mainstream media' and I think I need to check if I'm some kind of news hipster without realizing it
Also its fucking scumbaggish. Like the whole point of saying that shit is to derail the thread and try enforce his bullshit idea of Facepunch being a "Left-wing echo chamber" There has been moments where people have posted some extreme left-wing leaning bullshit or shit like from "The Young Turks" where we have all denounced them and called them out.
There's not really a clear definition of what qualifies. I've known someone to categorize it as "cable TV news only" to narrow the category enough so that their "MSM is trash" arguments hold any water. I'm not sure where to draw the line, but I'd say the examples I mentioned earlier are pretty firmly within the category of mainstream, as they have pretty bread readership (on the order of millions).
No I think people just expect not to have to deal with offtopic rants about CNN and fake news in a thread specifically about Fox News doing a funny. One guy said he trusted CNN and his ratings were exclusively dumbs, disagrees, and one funny before he edited his post. Yeah, FP fuckin loves CNN Programmer let me tell you. Someone posted an awesome graph that was laid out like a pyramid in another thread, where the top of it was least-biased, most accurate sources and descending from there you had slightly biased, still accurate sources, then biased and mostly accurate sources, then garbage fires. Generally you want to avoid cable news, which is what I think people mean by "mainstream media". Places like CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News are capable of running totally factual stories but they should never be your primary source. There is also a catch here that people on the right will generally differentiate Fox News as being somehow separate from the mainstream media, despite being the most watched news network in America. Truthfully, "no mainstream media can be trusted" is largel
You should keep posting here so we never end up being a total echo chamber
Maybe it's done rarely because CNN rarely fucks up :^) You said no one posts CNN fucking up but you acknowledged it happening but I guess it doesn't count because it was a right-winger that did it? I don't know what more you want man, it seems like you are just whining to whine.
My argument is over just based on what you said. You don't actually care about the argument, you just care that "right-wingers" don't get their way. Once again, just because I have differing opinions than yours doesn't mean i'm a right winger. I am center and don't hold positions for the sake of hatred for one party or another. I don't post in things I agree with on the left side because it wouldn't bring anything to the conversation. I don't know why you want to paint me as a right winger Trump supporter when I repeated said I am quite the opposite.
It didn't sound like you were just trying to prove that "Facepunch has a left wing bias" It sounded like you were saying: Which is playing into the narrative that all news is untrustworthy, which is patently false. AP, Reuters, PBS, NPR, BBC... there are countless news sources that deliver fairly neutral, factual reporting. Saying that media as a whole cannot be trusted is the Trump admin's strategy to encourage their base to find whatever "alternative facts" fit their agenda. It erodes the idea that there is a singular "truth" to reality.
Conservatives that complain about liberals wanting perfect gender parity or broader representation of minorities but then complain about leftist or liberal echo chambers are bloody hypocrites in my view. Like what do you want, some kind of intellectual affirmative action so we have equal representation of conservatives and liberals?
This is explicitly what some people have asked for. The whole "dogpiling" shit implies that only a certain amount of people should be allowed to respond to a right-wing point of view. Programmer thinks that every thread shitting on Fox News needs to be accompanied by a thread shitting on CNN. And when you tell him that a right-winger already took all the good ones he say's it doesn't count.
Alright sure, I'm on board. Can we also get a pee fetish guy in here because clearly if we're doing intellectual affirmative action we should do it for all opinions. @Programmer do you know a guy?
