So the former, since the EU is all encompassed by the former
Having a lot of people who believe a certain way about politics doesn't make something an echo chamber. If it did essentially every community would be an echo chamber. Look at the ones I listed and tell me any of those are less of an echo chamber than FP.
I don''t see a reason to sub forum geographical locations, considering FP is getting quieter and feels like time zones matter now but it would be really sweet if these opinion pieces could have a home elsewhere.
Like a trash can, for instance
I consider most places echo chambers (including what you listed). You pretty much have to intentionally look for a place like /r/neutralpolitics or /r/cmv and have an explicit desire amongst members to regularly expose their opinions to the contrary.
Which is fine. Would be fine if people just admitted this place is center-left to left leaning. It doesn't take a genius to figure out if a place is revolving around largely the same results on a political test that this might be a indicated of a place having a certain perspective overall.
I don't understand this mentality.
Why not just simply not click on the opinion threads?
The flood gates are open. Let the revealing of Trumpists and Petersonian begin !
Pandoras box has been opened. Demons flood into Polidicks.
What happens in Brussels is completely different from what happens in the countries themselves, EU isn't a federal government.
but everyone already knows and admits fp is mostly left and center left, stop pretending it's some crazy not-talked-about secret lmao
Call me when we start banning people for "concern trolling" like a certain other place.
Correct - EU is a confederation.
At the very least opinion pieces need to be very clearly labelled as such. Too easy to be misled by an article if that isn't made clear since most people aren't going to invest the time to make certain it's reliable information.
Dear god, its looking even worse now. I rather we roll back to pre opinion PD, or at least heavily moderated.
Maybe, But becoming (stereotypical toxic) hypocritical moderate in US is sadly creating more problems (letting the right all they want for "compromising" on couple issues) than never going center-left or down right left-wing as alternate to Orthodox American politics.

The only difference between FP and r/neutralpolitics is the structure of the subreddit, which mandates every thread be posed in a neutral question but does not require a neutral answer. The best definition I've found for echo chamber as it applies to message boards like FP would be
a term widely used in today's lexicon, that describes a situation where certain ideas, beliefs or data points are reinforced through repetition of a closed system that does not allow for the free movement of alternative or competing ideas or concepts.
Nothing on Facepunch prevents the free movement of alternative or competing ideas or concepts. It's also not a closed system; liberals who break the rules get banned and stay banned, same with conservatives. Well, mostly, anyway.
I also do not get the impression that you are interested in honest political discourse.
I think the implementation of OPINION and VIDEOS subforums would be wise
I don't think opinion pieces deserve a place in the forums at this point in time because all that begs for is Mass Debate 2.0. At least with the pre-opinion state of Polidicks discussion was based around some kind of measured source that could be trusted as factually accurate and understandably biased.
Videos, as long as they adhere to the same standards as news articles, should be allowed as normal Polidicks threads. Again, no reason to fragment them into their own subforum. Anything short of meeting the standards for articles can be taken to the Video/media/etc subforum.
Yeah honestly I'd rather just have no opinion articles at all. That's just a Pandoras Box that I'd like to leave the opening of to other websites.
What if there was a way for you all to filter out opinion pieces if you wanted to?
Why bother? Opinion pieces aren't of any value. They hold no factual influence. If they did, they would be news articles.
For those of you concerned with the rule change, use your noggin. If you're presenting an opinion peiece as news your going to get shut down, if you're present it as an opinion peiece for the sake of discussion you're going to be fine. And if you post an Alex Jones bit for the sake of discussion, be prepared to be covered in boxes. It would also probably be a good idea to explain why you think the opinion peiece is relevant to a political discussion instead of just posting something with no context.
With that, if you think the piece is junk don't post in it. The only reason crap propagates is because people feed it. And if you feel like someone is trying to pass off an opinion price as news you have a report button.
So are we allowed to post onion articles now?

What is the point of this forum if we're just throwing away all the rules?
The point is to allow conversation outside the confines of political news only, to allow for broader conversations than just news alone. The onion itself can be used for political conversation based on satire that is relevant to current politics. However, what you're referencing the OP made no attempt to do so. With that being said outright banning the use of the onion for the sake of cutting down shit posting is stupid, especially since shit posting is no longer bannable forum wide. Like I said, if it's shit don't feed it. We're in the process of making a subforum so you can weed out out yourself.
I'm still not clear on why exactly this is a good idea.

Would this be an acceptable thread?
Do you think it is? Would you post that? Use some common sense.
