And then he rates you baby.
Polidicks should really get rid of ratings completely, like it was on oldpunch.
Any updates on if this is going to be implemented or not?
We'll know more once hezzy gets his next time off from work.
Man, welcome to my life. I've told people here that I'm a libertarian and not some conservative neonazi and what do I get called? A conservative neonazi. Fun.
I actually think the rules light approach is actually allowing more discussion - I don't need to be afraid of BDA hitting me with a banhammer because I think he's delusional about Trump, I just miss some of the more mildly-right leaning voices proposing debate. I'm also in the minority of not totally hating Tudd, I've actually talked to the guy and while he thinks my libertarian views are strange, he doesn't outright hate them. Not naming names, but for some people... I cant say that's the case.
Eh im fine with ratings.
Helps show the true colors of a number of posters.
What's with this strange as hell persecution complex some of you guys have? Even when BDA did abuse his mod powers the worst he did is changed one user's display name. Whenever he got in a debate with someone he always refrained from moderating them unless they were seriously getting out of line and usually referred it to another mod from what I saw. He seemed to give quite a bit of leeway to those he debated too. So this weird persecution complex some of you have regarding him seems totally out of touch with the actual reality of things.
Not gonna lie, before seeing this I thought you were alt right. Maybe if your posts give the wrong impression you could be a little clearer.
Also BDA didn't ban people for having differing opinions, just coz a mod disagrees with you doesn't mean you get banned and there are many peeps here who'd disagree with your "DBA is delusional about trump" thing.
It seems to be very common on this forum to be accused of being alt right and other things for discussing certain topics.
Imo if peeps subscribe to alt right media and parrot alt right talking points they're probably alt right (or "alt lite") . Most of us here are from "western nations" so the term alt-right is relevant.
?
Alt right absolutely is a worldwide term. Right wing nuts are popping up everywhere
He didn't, sure, but it gives a bad impression when you have a mod getting so attached and being so outgoing in the politics forum. There really were times where I just wanted to take him around back and tell him "Dude, chill out about Trump already". Although really, back when BDA was a mod the overflow window was almost radically eft leaning instead of just moderately so like we have now. Sure, I've seen a dude or two claiming that anarchist rioters are actually good boys who never do anything wrong, but I feel that's the minority.
As for being alt right? Really, my biggest thing is that I think Trump is a dumbass instead of being outright malicious. You'd see me calling their racial ideas retarded if we had any legitament altrighters to be found, but then again I did get along with Tudd when I talked to him and he is (or rather was) probably the most right-leaning voice we've ever had. Not sure if I'd outright call him alternative right though, he seems to be heavily right leaning but I'm not sure if he's so far gone that he thinks whites are being persecuted or other delusional nonsense
I assume you've never seen Ralgoman then? Because he has legitimately posted about how he thinks he's persecuted as a white person.
Oh, I just hated him because he he's iq 80 and loud about it, glad to know it's also justified.
Yeah, like good old Laika rating every post about trans people dumb.
Tbh polidicks can be aggressive but it is particularly cruel if you are bad at wording your arguments, conveying yourself, or validating sources. These are all things you improve on with time.
As for being called nazi or whatever, you can hit the streets singing the soviet anthem and you will still be called an alt right neonazi by someone.
Well, in some cases it's obviously unwarranted, but in the cases of regular, predictable, continual behavior, it's to be expected that users aren't going to like the individual expressing that behavior.
So what happens when someone doesn't have a normal ideology? I'll prolly never even come close to being involved in something like this, nor would I even want to, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that doesn't have a 'traditional' ideology or even subscribe to the idea of having one in the first place. I lean left in as many ways as I lean right, I'm indifferent to tons of things, apathetic to quite a bit as well. And I'm not alone there. Makes me wonder how that'd play into things.
Why not just a fucking free for all? That would be pretty entertaining.
what the hell do you call what's currently going on now then lol, polite and civil debating?
Pretty much...I mean, we can artificially restrict it all we want, but I like the way it is where as long as you aren't essentially just spamming or flaming you are free to post your opinions no matter how much they piss people off (a problem that certainly used to exist, take it from me)
I'm not sure this is what you meant but the idea that moderation artificially restricts discussion is really hilarious.
We need a bicameral council. A lower house of elected councilors and an upper one of elected peers along with mods picked by Garry
With how power dynamics work in forums this would just turn into a Prussian style "democracy but not really" system
That's pretty much what happens, whether it's good or not is another question.

And Garry is the monarch. Represents us to the outside world and has supreme power, but rarely uses it.
I know I've been pretty quiet lately, got a lot of stuff on at the moment. I'll get back to it shortly!
Give me the role. I'll ban everyone of differing opinions, including moderators if possible.
It's because the alt-right can't spread their propaganda if a proper moderation team is keeping eyes on it. So, they instead try to undermine the authority of the administration instead, and we fell for it.
any updates on this? I'm gonna assume the project is DOA due to the whole mess two weeks ago.
