Bob Woodward’s new book reveals a ‘nervous breakdown’ of Trump’s presidency

I'm talking about the Republican primary, not the general election. I don't dispute anything you have to say here with regards to the extent of the Russian interference or the corruption in the RNC. They disenfranchise voters with or without foreign assistance. But to my knowledge, nobody in the intelligence community has stated that Trump's victory in the general election was illegitimate or was significantly affected by espionage.
Maybe to some degree, but there was obviously a lot more going on than just that. From what I saw it was far more that people hate politicians and Trump was seen as an outsider to the status quo due to his rhetoric and successful propaganda.
We’re at a point where constituents in both political parties are absolutely fed up with their current leadership and Russia was able to exploit that just by digging up some dirty laundry and automated shitposting with bots spreading propaganda. If the system is so fragile that simply pushing the wrong agenda causes the entire thing to fail, then clearly we’ve got massive problems which need to be dealt with.
What gives you the impression that I'm not as well? The general election only demonstrates how far they were willing to go; why would we not question whether they had done the same here?
The green party candidate is seen sitting with members of Putin's staff, her campaign refuses to release documents regarding whether or not they changed their policies to be more pro-Russia after that meeting - stating that its "McCarthyism against Russians". Russia begins spreading anti-vax propaganda - propaganda co-opted and repeated by the Green Party.
Putin hates Hillary; Hillary's campaign is attacked on all sides including 'releases' and 'promises of criminal conduct' by Wikileaks. Her e-mails are later stolen and presented to the Trump campaign. Putin puts into play operatives specifically to 'act' as Sanders supporters and 'drive the narrative' specifically to weaken Hillary's chance at winning the primary.
Trump is waist-deep in Russian bank debts after he was unable to secure loans in the US. He was likely mired by Kompromat and had business interests in Russia and had financial motivations to support Russian interests and was loyal only to himself. His opposition are harangued on all sides and the GOP is hesitant to do anything about Trump even when he refuses to agree to 'step down if he loses'. The same GOP funded a great deal by the NRA, which is likely being run by Russia ad-hoc, and through which they're allowed to make unlimited contributions to political campaigns via dark money the NRA refuses to expose to public scrutiny.
Putin's fingerprints are all over the primary - they're just less deep than the general election.
Jesus Christ they're not aides, they're babysitters.
I'm surprised no one has snapped yet and just enticed Trump to do something stupid enough to get him out of office especially when it's so obvious that's he's stupid enough to actually do it, like testifying to Mueller.
its like there's a carefully constructed facade between the world and Trump' WH, and of course anyone that peeks through is a libtard liar whateverthefuckinginsultofthedayis
Because you pivoted the conversation away from the primary. I asked you a very simple question: do you believe that Trump's 20 point win over Ted Cruz in the Republican primary is in question? All I wanted was a simple yes or no because it seemed to me you were doubting the results of that race. The original poster I quoted certainly did.
Feel free to PM me if you ever wanna talk further because we've taken the thread off-topic as it is and I have to leave.
Dowd then explained to Mueller and Quarles why he was trying to keep the president from testifying: “I’m not going to sit there and let him look like an idiot. And you publish that transcript, because everything leaks in Washington, and the guys overseas are going to say, ‘I told you he was an idiot. I told you he was a goddamn dumbbell. What are we dealing with this idiot for?’ ”
“John, I understand,” Mueller replied, according to Woodward.
Is Mueller going easy on him?
...
Trump: I’m just hearing about it. And I heard — I did hear from Lindsey, but I’m just hearing about it. So we’re going to have a very inaccurate book, and that’s too bad. But I don’t blame you entirely.
BW: No, it’s [?] — it’s going to be accurate, I promise.
Trump: Yeah, okay. Well, accurate is that nobody’s ever done a better job than I’m doing as president.
Oh, you goddamn narcissistic old fuck...
Not going easy, he just saying he understands how Trump and his circus look like on an international level.
Right after that, there's this line:
Later that month, Dowd told Trump: “Don’t testify. It’s either that or an orange jumpsuit.”
With a warning like this I don't think Mueller's going easy on anyone.
he has to very carefully pick his battles. He's building a very solid credible case of a conspiracy by picking off the players one by one.
I read through the article and

Chief of staff John Kelly describes Trump as an "idiot" and "unhinged," Woodward reports. Defense Secretary James Mattis describes Trump as having the understanding of "a fifth or sixth grader." And Trump's former personal lawyer John Dowd describes the President as "a fucking liar," telling Trump he would end up in an "orange jump suit" if he testified to special counsel Robert Mueller.
"He's an idiot. It's pointless to try to convince him of anything. He's gone off the rails. We're in crazytown," Kelly is quoted as saying at a staff meeting in his office. "I don't even know why any of us are here. This is the worst job I've ever had."
Throughout the book, Woodward portrays the President as a man obsessed with his standing in the media and with his core supporters. Trump appears to be lonely and increasingly paranoid, often watching hours of television in the White House residence. "They're out to get me," Trump said of Mueller's team. Trump's closest advisers described him erupting in rage and profanity, and he seemed to enjoy humiliating others. "This guy is mentally retarded," Trump said of Sessions. "He's this dumb southerner," Trump told Porter, mocking Sessions by feigning a southern accent. Trump said that Priebus is "like a little rat. He just scurries around."
Trump's philosophy on diplomacy was personal. "This is all about leader versus leader. Man versus man. Me versus Kim," he said of North Korea. His inner circle was worried about "The Big Problem," Woodward writes: Trump's lack of understanding that his crusade to impose tariffs could endanger global security. But the meeting didn't go as planned. Trump went off on his generals. "You should be killing guys. You don't need a strategy to kill people," Trump said of Afghanistan.
Holy shitfuck. Generally I try to avoid paying any attention to Trump's dumpster fire reality TV routine, but some of these passages are too insane to ignore. This isn't just another hatchet piece, either. The author is a Pulitzer Prize recipient.
Woodward's book relies on hundreds of hours of taped interviews and dozens of sources in Trump's inner circle, as well as documents, files, diaries and memos, including a note handwritten by Trump himself. Woodward explains that he talked with sources on "deep background," meaning he could use all the information but not say who provided it. His reporting comes with the credibility of a long and storied history that separates this book from previous efforts on Trump. The author and Washington Post journalist has won two Pulitzer Prizes, including one for his coverage of the Watergate scandal that led to President Richard Nixon's resignation.
After Syrian President Bashar al-Assad launched a
chemical attack on civilians in April 2017, Trump called Mattis and said
he wanted to assassinate the dictator. “Let’s fucking kill him! Let’s
go in. Let’s kill the fucking lot of them,” Trump said, according to
Woodward.
Mattis told the president that he
would get right on it. But after hanging up the phone, he told a senior
aide: “We’re not going to do any of that. We’re going to be much more
measured.” The national security team developed options for the more
conventional airstrike that Trump ultimately ordered.
I'm afraid your friend Mattis is really our friend Mattis.
You know there's been two unsuccessful measures to censure Trump, third time's the charm?

Jesus H Christ, somebody impeach this fucking lunatic.
BUT HILLARY WOULDVE STARTED WORLD WAR IIIVX 1/2
You think one of them could slip something on his desk regarding universal healthcare, a $15 minimum wage, public funding of elections...
None of the staff want that either.
I might actually buy this book. I've never read or bought any political books before, but this one definitely interests me from what's been shown so far.
I find this one kind of hard to believe personally. From what I've seen John Kelly almost seems to relish his position as being a handler of sorts for Trump, and seems like he would be too loyal to say things like "I don't even know why any of us are here".
Then again, I guess it's not unheard of for someone who hates their job to happen to be very good at it so v v
I don't know, there's lots of instances of Trump saying or doing something ridiculous in public while Kelly makes a face or facepalms in the background.
So when do we get to see an episode of Ghost Hunters shot in the White House?
I have drank more booze in the past 2 years than any other point in my life and I hate to say, a lot of it has just been to forget what has been happening in America.
I've never felt this helpless regarding politics.

This is interesting since everything in the book is said to be backed up by recordings, and the author is an American icon of a journalist. That leaves little wiggle room, perhaps the source quoting Mattis is fabricating details?
Everyone in the international community already thinks hes a fucking idiot.
I'd say it's either this or Mattis trying to avoid a shitstorm thrown at him by Trump.
Although, even if that were to be the case, I don't think that would be avoidable at all, because the minute Trump found out about this, even if it were a lie, he'd still call him into his office and go: "You fucking said what about me? A fifth-grader? Don't you fucking know that I have all the smarts? I am the smarts! Lots of people don't know this, but I am actually the smartest person in history as well as the best president! It's true!"
