People are actually getting uppity about mansplaining? As much as people would like to think otherwise, it's a real thing. It's not called "mansplaining" to assign it to males only and exclusive such that there's no "womansplaining". It's just meant to mean the condescending talk given by those with attributes of toxic masculinity. It's a product of THAT, not of "men being mean to women". It's a thing, I've experienced it and seen it happens to others.
That makes no sense, "rape" isnt gender biased. This argument would make sense is "manraping" was a thing as if it were any different or worse than the current meaning of rape.
I didn't state it was. I stated it was a form of assault - which doesn't mean it's superfluous because we 'already have assault'.
not exactly as common as the inverse, if it was, i'm sure it would be
Can you guys stop bickering about the lingo some limp-wristed hipster was using in his tweet and get back to the actual topic?
None of those are gendered like "mansplaining" is. no
I mean the only reason mansplaining has stuck around is because we as westerners live in a patriarchal society where the system is often rigged in benefit for men. Even if it doesn't feel like it for you or me specifically, men have a lot of advantages in general. It reminds me of that old bit by Louis CK on the word Cracker.
