"You know when Abraham Lincoln made that Gettysburg Address speech, the great speech, you know he was ridiculed?" Trump said during a rally in Billings, Montana, referring to the speech delivered by Lincoln in Gettysburg during the Civil War in 1863, reported The Hill.
"And he was excoriated by the fake news. They had fake news then. They said it was a terrible, terrible speech."
"Fifty years after his death they said it may have been the greatest speech ever made in America," Trump continued. "I have a feeling that's going to happen with us. In different ways, that's going to happen with us."
“The coverage of President Lincoln’s address in The New York Times was quite favorable, actually,” Washington lawyer George Conway tweeted, alongside links to archived Times articles from 1863.
Just makin it up as he goes along
What a pathetic, fat man.
I would hate to imagine Trump being my math teacher because he'd probably lie about how multiplication works
Did you know Lincoln single handedly saved hundreds of lives at Pearl harbor? The media claims it never happened but, well, that's fake news for you.
President Barack Obama named Lincoln his favorite president and insisted on using Lincoln's Bible for his swearing in to office at both his inaugurations.
Now lets see him shit on Lincoln.

GOD
Four score and bigly years ago there was no collusion, WITCH HUNT!
I don't think he's wrong, but not for the reason he wants to think so. He's probably going to be seen as the new Reagan, with politicians 50 years from now trying to emulate him.
That's a scary thought.
Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Eisenhower, and Goldwater would be absolutely aghast at Trump and his party, shut your goddamn mouth Donald.
Anybody noticed this guy wearing a Nike shirt behind Trump?

Don't be ridiculous - he doesn't know how multiplication works.
”Imaginary numbers? More like FAKE NUMBERS”
alternative numbers
can we start getting him to attend plays and hoping for the best then
Four score and bigly years ago, I grabbed them by the Pussy and I didn't even need a breath mint!
I think he's completely right(not about Lincoln's speech, but his own). His speeches are going to be remembered in a lot of different ways and they're going to define our government for a long time no matter if he's removed or tyranny succeeds because this shit won't end, not for a long time.
this is what happens when nobody challenges your statements, you get to the point where you can say anything regardless of whether its true or not
Trump and his Party are the exact kind of people that ridiculed Lincoln in the first place. Lincoln was going against the grain and fighting against discrimination, while Trump is actively, and quite purposely, causing it. The nerve of Trump to dare compare himself to Lincoln pains me to no end. I want off this wild ride, I want to go back to being at least somewhat proud of being an American, not constantly in shame and existential dread over the future.
I would say the only thing that Trump has in common with Lincoln is to take the reigns of the Presidential office at a very partisan, dangerous divide in American politics and society, where the situation has reached a point where things have and will further escalate towards violence and discord.
Both men were blamed by their contemporaries for being responsible for widening the divide, though it's safe to say that Trump has actively thrown the petrol onto that trashfire and let it spread across the garden.
Lincoln wasn't even the coolest president.
Try Theodore "Trust Buster" Roosevelt, or Dwight "Commie Crusher" Eisenhower.
Anyway, as a history nerd, this just hurts me on a spiritual level.
