I think Cruz is currently in the same sort of position Hillary was in at this point in 2016, i.e. on course to win barring any major upsets. In Hillary's case there were major upsets and she fucking died.

Cruz should be fine unless anything crazy happens, but given he won a 15-point margin in 2012 and is currently ahead by only 4 points, he'd be an idiot to think it's a done deal right now
