Misogyny could become hate crime as legal review is announced

It's kind of not in this case.
Again, why should we be giving the justice system more power to disproportionately punish a group of people that they are already prejudiced towards?
It would be like saying that some crimes should be considered more heinous if a black person commits them against a white person. Not only is it inherently discriminatory, it's giving legal justification for the justice system to harshly sentence people that they already have a demonstrable prejudice towards.
Well it's not if the broader reality is that society is trending towards legally protecting sexism against men. I don't know how you posted this with a straight face, but you post like this a lot.
Yep sure should be. Serial killers get 1 month unsupervised probation, petty thieves get a minimum of the death penalty.
Can you provide evidence of how society as a whole is tending towards sexism against men? If you can't is that what we call feels before reals?
I mean. we have like weekly threads about men losing custody to women who abuse their kids. Then there's the whole rape-accusation mismatch of consequence that has finally begun to correct. Need i remind you the new feminist mantra of seeking selective equality until shit gets tough?
See. This is where i'm gonna change my stance on you. Absolute fucking ass.
That isn't evidence.
Neither is this
You said this to me in another thread
You just consistently refuse consideration of other people's observations or to entertain arguments backed by statistics over anecdotes.
I'm simply holding you to your own standard.
he's right though."society is trending towards sexism towards men" is a hot spicy take. the sort of thing someone says who makes 'anti feminism' an important part of their personality despite never reading of page of feminist literature.
going off on someone when they ask you to put up or shutup on a claim so grand is a pretty clear indication that you don't know what you're talking about.
I told you where to find it. Me creating a list isn't about to open your eyes and i'm not about to be arsed to try anymore. If you weren't so blatantly trolling, the effort might have been worth it. But i simply don't have any kind of faith in your actually engaging with any kind of list of sources i would build with anything but vague whataboutism tbh.
I don't think a few outlying news articles that confirm your biases are enough to contend with huge swathes of Sociology and other academic work that discuss this stuff.
Well it's not though. I mean while men are by no means a persecuted class and i'm not about to put on some victimized show and dance, the truth is that a lot of radical feminists feel some kind of sociopathic carte-blanche on abusing men. Either verbally as a class of society or more directly as in their husbands, boyfriends, sons, fathers, nephews and so on.
A lot of modern feminist give off the distinct impression that feminist literature is secondary to their mental gymnastics concerning sexism and racism towards white men being somehow impossible. Inventing new definitions or swapping in and out different ones at a whim. There's not much academic consensus in third and fourth wave feminism. At least not immediately observable.
I tend to agree here. But when you're dealing with the same person and you start seeing a pattern of just only engaging enough to get a rise and then tucking tail when proven wrong, it's just too much effort that you know will never bear fruits for anyone. I'm not about to engage Lambeth in any way where i have to do this kind of heavy legwork because i'm 99% certain the goalpost will shift when i'm done.
Hey man you made the claim, you need to do the legwork and prove it. If you genuinely believe what you claim is true, give me evidence. Why should i be convinced just because you say so?
Because i just responded in another thread to a similar type of goading and you still haven't decided which angle you're gonna use to somehow dismiss that post. I'm not convincing you with my statements here. You haven't convinced me that discussing this shit with you any further is actually gonna yield any kind of adult conversation. You're ducking and weaving and showboating instead. Every. single. time.
I haven't responded to you in that thread because the post you wrote is fairly nuanced and articulate and I wanted to give more time to actually sit down and think on it rather than try to off the cuff phonepost.
This thread might be first one where I would use term "feminazi" unironically after seeing some of the posters
I don't know about society as a whole but the justice system in particular has had a pretty significant bias against males for a long time
Here's a source on the matter (for the US, admittedly, but similar sentencing disparities exist in other western countries as well)
https://repository.law.umich.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1164&context=law_econ_current
Also I don't think it's a matter of society "tending towards" sexism against men. Sexism is bi-directional. Everyone has perpetuated and suffered from sexism to some extent.
As for law proposed in the article, I think their heart is in the right place, but that doesn't change the reality of the situation. Men are already disproportionately punished by the justice system, especially for most of the crimes that this law would cover, they don't need to be given a legal excuse for continued sexist prejudice.
I mean. You STILL haven't replied and we both know why. You're trying to be cute and clever with this shit, but all it amounts to is lame stalling. You know you're wrong, you're pissing people off deliberately and at this point everyone can tell you're just taking the piss. It's like we have this 3-4 member cabal of concern trolls trying to drag the rest of us along on a leash with the ever absent promise of engaging in actual discussion and sharing of viewpoints in an intellectually honest manner.
I don't know what you feel you get out of this, but it just further reinforces the broader impression people have of SJW types as closet narcissists who revel in kicking over sandcastles whatever the cost, no matter the context.
Lambeth has legitimately argued that it's okay to be bigoted against a group of 360 million people for the sole reason that he's a part of that group, so I don't know why anyone takes his opinions seriously.
Most of these seem reasonable, but what exactly is online abuse? That's the only one that lacks some kind of common sense clause and it worries me. Also the addition of unwanted sexual advances covered under their definition of it having to be mysoginistic is interesting, I can't imagine how someone makes a sexual advance on the basis of disliking women.
Hi it's actually my birthday today but even if it wasn't, I don't need to live my life according to some paranoid danish weirdo. I'm a 25 year old guy with work and school to go to, I have a life outside. I'll take as long as I damn well please to respond to your post (because I think it does deserve a response) but if you're bouncing off the walls to call me a huge fucking troll again, that's 100% not my problem.
It didn't even occur to me that this entire move is suspect purely on the basis that it covers men commiting a felony against women exclusively, I just assumed it works both ways.
all your posts seem so insanely abrasive all the time, I don't know how you go through life if you're the same in person
I remember how you brought this up in a completely different thread than the topic originated in for no other reason than to give me shit.
I don't tend to tone down my speech with bigots, so that might be why you feel this way.
Jesus I don't remember people taking posting on the internet so personally when I was in high school.
Maybe you're acting like a victim, yet again, to people calling you out for this exact shit.
Happy birthday!
You came into the discussion out of nowhere to point out that no one should take Lambeth's posts very seriously (except you?) because he is a bigot but now you want him to take your posts seriously when you aren't even trying to respond to his original point?
I said opinions, not posts.
You should take garbage opinions seriously when you're criticizing them but you shouldn't act as if they have merit. That's more what I meant.
any form of prejudice directed towards any group, by gender or by Ethnic group, should be punished and any form of bigotry should be discouraged completely. That is all.
Though these conversations bug me cause overall i agree with what i stated above. But you get people on both sides of the issue when it comes to sexism where they completely blow it out of proportion and their way of dealing with sexism is by encouraging others to be more sexist towards the other sex. In this weird logic that if you shit on the others, they wont shit on you. Even though it does the exact opposite and furthers sexism in general. Which are the Briannu Wu types, Incels, the MGTOW types, etc.
In a nutshell, this is what i mean.
"I do not agree with sexism towards men/women" - Random person.
"I agree completely" - Me
"SO I MUST SILENCE MEN/WOMEN SO THEY WONT BE SEXIST TO ME" - Random person.
"Wait a minute..." - Me
So instead of going what we can all agree is the sane route and going "All forms of sexism is stupid". There's people who think the way to stop sexism is to silence the other side. Which is completely beyond retarded. Its this bullshit "Eye for an Eye" mentality that has fucked the entirety of humanity over for ever since we began using sticks and stones.
Okay but it's no more difficult to create an equal law than it is to create a sexist law.
So we shouldn't accept a sexist law, given there's no valid reason for it to exist.
i work in a female dominated workplace and the management often rags on me saying things like "oh you must not know how to cook ha ha because youre a man" or "let me show you how to do <some simple task> that your feeble male mind cant comprehend"
Of course they don't actually say those things, but it's definitely because I'm a guy.
but I guess misandry doesn't exist, let's handwaive it away
