• Theresa May may plan snap election, again.

I mean at least UKIP will make sure to burn the entire nation to the ground and not just a good chunk of it I suppose. It's maybe better than the Tories in a depressing, emo kind of way.
So after calling for a snap election and then losing her majority, she decides that having another snap election a year and a half later at the deadline of Brexit negotiations is a GOOD idea? This is some 48d chess going on.
I've heard some people suggest before that the USA should switch to a parliamentary system, because supposedly that would fix a lot of the issues we have with our government - but the UK's current situation seems to indicate otherwise. Can you imagine if Trump and co had the legal ability to just call an election every year until they got the results they wanted?
You do realize it's the UK that is unwillingly to sit down and negotiate, not the EU, right? They've been given several options to choose from, but they refuse to pick any.
Can you like actually stop pretending to be retarded or are you physically incapable of doing so?

Maybe it's because I'm a fresh outsider who just came here and I don't have a good grasp of the intricate politics of this foreign land just yet, but I had a look at the press and whatnot anyway. The only people praising May are either newspapers that only serve as improvised toilet paper or tabloid yellow pages. Calling you delusional is redundant at this point as your name has become synonymous with the word. Stop posting and wasting page space.
Maybe left-leaning newspaper will praise the decision when the Tories get voted out.
and people still wonder why so many of us wish scotland was independent
This seems to be for two reasons: 1) If conservatives lose they can argue that it wasn't their fault if brexit goes absolutely horribly wrong 2) prevent another referendum on brexit

A few things: The UK's parliamentary system isn't the only form of a parliamentary system there is. The UK's system actually has a lot of the same problems that the U.S. system has (FPTP etc). Implementing the best form of a parliamentary system there is at the moment (proportional representation etc) would probably change American politics so fundamentally (more political parties and so forth) that applying the current American political situation to it isn't really possible, I think. I can't speak for other European countries, but it's highly unusual that an election is called when a government wants a certain result or anything like that. Here, an early election pretty much only happens when a government 'falls', which (usually) means that the parties in the governing coalition have such a severe disagreement that they can't continue to govern with each other and a new election is called to install a new coalition government. For the UK, Brexit is also just a very unusual event.
Fair enough. So I guess this is less an indictment of the parliamentary system as it is of the UK.
Theoretically parties should be able to do this in any parliamentary system by intentionally collapsing the government. Though, it's probably still not a big issue because I don't really see why voters would put up with parties trying to pull it. Especially if the results of may's 2017 snap election are anything to go by.
It is possible, yes, but like you say, it hasn't ever really been a problem. Governments falling isn't necessarily a problem in general. In my country it is not unusual that a government doesn't complete it's full 4 year term. In fact, the last government was the first to complete a full term since 2002. Everything's perfectly stable, though.
I can't help but feel this has something to do with freeing the Tories from the DUP so they work something out with the EU on Ireland.
Speaking of Brexit retards, when did they start going with this idea of pulling in WW2 and not wanting a deal to liberate the rest of Europe back then, hence we should be super extra nice to them now?
We're a nice country, why won't you give us a chance? We'll treat you well, enjoy the benefits of your single market without following any of your rules, and make you happy, but no, you have to WTOzone us. Why do hot supranational unions only sign comprehensive free trade deals with asshole countries?
Please don't think Boilrig speaks on behalf of us, he's delusional.
to be fair pretty much no ruling party/coalition is stupid enough to abuse their ability to call a snap election for the purpose of gaining more seats.
So the Conservative Party has been so bad and so inept at coming up with a serious plan for the Brexit negotiations that their only choice is to call ANOTHER general election and try to narrowly lose to Labour. That way they don't have to take the heat for calling a second referendum or backing down from Brexit, and Labour is forced to take the heat from either calling for a second referendum, calling Brexit off, or for the inevitable and extreme immediate consequences of a no-deal Brexit. After which, the Conservatives are hoping they can bounce back to a majority government during the economic recovery phase with the easier post-no-deal-Brexit negotiations. Meanwhile, if the Conservatives win the snap general election, it blocks a second referendum vote while allowing them to say "you voted for this!" when everything goes to shit. I guess it's a good move for them, politically.
This really isn't their plan, they're not playing 60D chess, it's a fun political fanfic to think about but no one legitimately calls an election with the intention of losing it This seems to be more of a move out of desperation than anything else: “As things stand, even if we get a deal with the EU, it is hard to see us getting any agreement through the Commons. Either the Brexiteers or the Remainers would stop it. We are running out of options,” the source said. If they come back with a deal and it can't get through parliament, there will have to be a snap election for there to be any chance of avoiding no deal.
that or the DUP defects because of the north ireland conditions and she looses the majority.
i do not want them to call an election i want them to DO THEIR FRIGGIN' JOBS, stop their dumb political infighting and try to get some semblance of stability before trying any of this political powergrab bullshit if brextremist tories are unhappy they should just fuck off to UKIP and stop dragging the rest of the country down
HEY BOILRIG REMEMBER THAT ONE TIME YOU SAID A REFERENDUM WOULD BE UNDEMOCRATIC HAHA GOOD TIMES
