Maybe if they treated lower enlisted better, they wouldn't have such a problem with retention and wouldn't have to lean so heavily on new recruits.

Nope. The pay is fine. Free housing and subsidized groceries coupled with free healthcare? Few jobs offer these things. Then you get regular raises, reupping bonuses, specialty pay, combat pay. The pay is fine.
6500 is tiny, make it bigger, by like, millions
