Seriously they can drop Brett and fast track Barrett by December, they're only hurting themselves in the midterms. All but like three made up their minds already the second they heard the allegations.
No Justices before elections, McConnell's rule.
The cunt is saying that only applies to presidential elections.
Don't forget all the people on FP who attacked Garland because Obama wanted to replace a conservative with a moderate, emphasizing that the court should remain balanced.
Scalia and Ginsburg were besties, Thomas gets his friend Breyer to say his questions during oral arguments since Thomas doesn't like talking, I doubt Kavanaugh will make any friends on the court.
I wouldn't be surprised if that was the GOP's longterm game at this point. That'd serve to undermine the power of the SCOTUS and they could use that to their advantage, as they constantly do with every single stupid decision made on either side.
That is the exact opposite of anything I've heard about behind the bench. In fact scuttlebutt has been that Scalia would scream at his fellow justices and throw his fists against tables in attempts to get the attention back to him.
The Republicans should nominate me. From what I've read in this thread you don't actually need any experience as a judge to get appointed, and as a bonus I haven't raped anyone. Put me in the game coach, I'm ready!
Ginsburg and Scalia had their families have new years dinners together, they watched opera together, and appeared on stage together as well, they knew each other from both being on the DC circuit.
Considering that apparently in 2018, politics has become one of the most important parts of our individual personal identities, there must be a lot of VERY shitty people out there if a huge portion of Republicans are just, ok with this. How do you even start trying to debate this with a friend or family member that is ok with all of this? GOP just seems to be "the party for people who are evil, benefit from evil or are just ok with other people being evil if it doesn't affect them". What the fuck do we do? Humanity is crazy, fuck
That's the kicker, they feel the same about Democrats, it's sad how far polarization has gone.
I was going to respond indignantly, but you're right. The Democrats have some shitty people in office - nasty, selfish people. The Democrats have cut it extremely close to the bone on being an acceptable party. It's all "sure we're corporate shills that only care when we are forced to, but at least we aren't republicans" The thing is, I think I've only ever seen Democrats be ignorant, selfish and self righteous, I haven't ever seem them be truly, you know, wicked, or try to blatantly gaslight reality and subvert justice.
A realignment, the last was with the Great Depression and FDR, the current fifth party system needs to be over
You don't. If you value your friendships and being able to sit at the thanksgiving dinner table with your family you never bring up politics. It's never been the most pleasant of discussions, but the more polarized society gets the more likely any attempts at debate end in fistfights and disownments. There's a time and a place to talk politics, but if you value peace and sanity with family, any time and any place where they're present is not the time or place for it.
https://twitter.com/HeidiPrzybyla/status/1045488389074677760 Poll taken before today of course, but of interest. Only amongst republicans does Kavanaugh have a very slim majority.
This was a very decent response until you just had to impinge my motives at the end. It really is too bad.
I don't value family members who believe in the tripe republicans espouse.
You’ll live.
He didn't even do that, just called you disingenuous. Which you are.
Republicans have shown they are more then willing to forgive and forgot any action done by a fellow Republican if it means holding power.
"He didn't even do that, just called you disingenuous." Can you be more contradictory? Calling someone disingenuous is literally impinging their motives. It is impossible to actually discuss issues here anymore. Thanks for reinforcing that.
Currently on my way down from Portland Maine to Washington DC with 20 other protesters via an overnight charter bus. We are going to pay Susan Collins a visit tomorrow morning.
Except that playing devil's advocate is what you claim to do in each thread, the stated definition of which is taking an opposing belief (aka one not sincerely or candidly held.. now look up the definition of devil's advocate) to the one you actually hold.
He's lost the Jesuits. https://twitter.com/americamag/status/1045465487986036736?s=20
It's as close as he's willing to get to publicly saying he thinks women are less than human. Every single vote cast in favor of confirming this rapist should be considered an act of treason, Kavanaugh has demonstrated that in addition to being a criminal he's woefully unqualified and has active contempt for rule of law.
Republicans have been treasonous for years at this point
I called your questions disingenuous because it was misrepresenting others' positions. I wasn't commenting on your motives. That being said I think it's pretty clear that you're more or less a partisan and you were basically just repeating the republican talking points we heard throughout this entire hearing.

I basically never claim to be playing devil's advocate. In fact, I may have never claimed that in my entire posting history.
oh my god you big baby stop getting hung up over one fucking word
