Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-Va.), one of the loudest voices of the #MeToo movement on Capitol Hill, swiftly called for the resignation of lawmakers accused of sexual misconduct.
But as the congresswoman faces a tough reelection fight, she has reserved judgment of Supreme Court nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh, her longtime friend, amid allegations of sexual assault.
When Kavanaugh was nominated in July, Comstock tweeted support for him and said President Trump had made an “excellent choice.”
“Last night, with Judge Kavanaugh, the American people saw the heart and humility of the man I have known for 20 years, who is a man of great character, integrity, and professionalism who reveres the Constitution and the rule of law. #VA10,” she wrote.

I was listening to the same C-SPAN stream that Maggie was during the break. I heard two male callers, both who said they thought Ford for was lying. Then a woman called in who said she was 76 and that she
had been molested in 2nd grade. Crying, she said that the testimony of Ford was bringing back all her bad memories of it.
Apologies if I seem overly worked up. I'm just overly worked up that a simple investigation is too much to ask because the GOP has no fucking standards and wants to push this guy through as quickly as possible.

It would be hard to get another judge that shares Brett's view that presidents should be immune from investigations (Mueller's) while in office. And Trump can never lose

There's hundreds of more qualified judges out there (Merrick Garland for example), but none of them support authoritarianism as vocally as Kav, so none of them will get nominated.
There's an upside to this prosecutor that I hadn't thought of: we don't have to hear Ted Cruz talk.
I'm really sorry to hear that. I guess I'm coming to realize that her coming forward is definitely politically motivated, but that in no way lessens the accusation. It just proves that it took something major like seeing her attacker possibly being appointed to one of the highest seats of power in the country to give her the strength to say something. I really am trying to understand this all better, I don't mean to belittle anybody's trauma.
And by god, you have to be brave to be able to face the masses and fully understand that you will be harassed by a thousands because of something that happened TO you.
Grassleys refusal to put the polygraph on the record is such a tell he's scared of what the results will be.
