Because it's not a position of prestige and honour to these people, but power and influence. They're not hoping to be a beacon of morality, they're hoping to get higher on the ladder and have more control to exert. It's the GOP spreading/keeping their reach to another branch of government.
Flake is getting blockaded in the elevator and can't get to the hearing. He looks absolutely defeated.
Can't wait to see the Supreme Court conveniently rule in favor of presidential state pardons shortly after his confirmation.
They're standing by a historically unpopular president and voting in a historically unpopular supreme court nominee. Nobody hates America more than Republicans,

Yup, okay, time to get the fuck out before we're locked in
Good job fucking yourselves in the midterms opening up house and senate investigations of Brett.

They all made up their minds before the testimony, nice going ensuring you will be hated Flake and Corker.
Wouldn't bank on it, underestimating how widespread stupid voters are is what got us into this mess.
None of them care. They're all rich as fuck.

Well it's settled, 11-10 in favor of his nomination. I wish I wasn't surprised, but damn, so much for thinking the heartless can grow hearts.
Is that right along party lines?
Yep, it will be 51-49 too, 52-48 if Manchin votes yes but if he does he might as well bolt to the GOP.
Yes. Just a note, this is just a committee vote. There's still a full senate vote. Not that it'll be different.

They don't believe Ford, this is them having hearts in their minds giving Brett the job he deserves.
All this talk about rules but the Republicans don't exactly follow the rules themselves, do they?
No violence, just protest around their homes, make them remember confirming Brett every day.
CBS cut away from Feinstein to let Graham spit more venom.
Gotcha, sorry then I misunderstood that with how rapid fire it was. I'm still going to hope for the best as much as I can.
Let's get rid of the FBI since they obviously don't need to do any investigations anymore.
Don't worry, that's coming next week.
This is an absolute travesty. Grassley is vile.
I hope these men die painful deaths
Well like politics now, the SCOTUS will be split between left and right, no moderation, no nuance.
Hatch is complaining that giving more time would smear Kavanaugh even more. "Oh no, we can't investigate because the truth would damage him!"
