I keep hearing about this Putin guy in the news, and from what I can tell, he's a pretty unsavory character
It doesn't matter if Skripal was a traitor and a scumbag. The Russian government ordered his assassination, fucked it up, and an innocent person died because of it. That is the problem here. The attempt on his life was also illegal, "assassination by toxic nerve agent" is not the appropriate sentence for treason in Russia.
when Putin says something you know it's a lie. Trump says what he honestly thinks is the truth and then changes his reality to suit it, including whether or not he was lying at the time.
They're still in the wrong. Just because the CIA does and has done awful things does not mean it's okay that others do it too.
I find this particularly hilarious after all those social media postings from the Russian embassy going on and on pretending to be "concerned" for the skripals and implying that this was all some British scheme that was keeping them against their will and other assorted bullshit.
Putin is at least the evil you can count on predictably serving his own self-interest. Trump is just completely insane.

CIA would've shot him and been done with it rather than using a fucking nerve agent and incompetently infecting bystanders with it. People would still care but fewer people would care because at least innocent people didn't get caught in the crossfire.
