The precedent set by Republicans is that you can obstruct the presidents nomination for as long as possible before your party regains the White House then force through every nominee the president wants regardless of qualification.
When the Democrats inevitably regain power, likely only after a major economic disturbance as is par for the course with Republicans in charge of the country, I hope they abuse this precedent to the utmost.

The world has changed. Protesting means nothing to those who do not feel it necessary to be held accountable by its people. Furthermore, protests were typically done to raise awareness (such was the case with the Bloody Sunday protests in the civil rights movement). People today are plenty aware, they're just entirely opposed to what we're protesting for. How often have you seen conscientious bystanders reviled by conservatives? This is no accident. Demagogues have purposefully sold protesting as unjust and evil.
As I said, the world has changed quite a bit. Workers rights protests and unions are not only ineffective, but actively lobbied against. How do you see anything like this happening again in a country where minimum wage workers at walmart are told about how evil unions are in their training videos.
I'll go ahead and put every big pop-culture protest of the past few years in the same bin I put Occupy Wallstreet in. Occupy should have taught us all the lesson that all you have to do to defeat a protest is to wait until people either get bored or have to go back to their jobs.

Trump isn't the one doing the damage. An entire Republican Party complicit in his activities is, which is why we need them out of office ASAP.
Ultimately irrelevant when his testimony was a shitshow of outright lies. Whether he did it or not (and there's a lot of evidence suggesting he did), his testimony revealed him to be unfit for the position.
