I don't think people here are saying there's no chance it was a real accident. They're just saying that it's entirely reasonable based on history to suspect foul play. It could just be that awkward, inevitable situation for Putin; imagine you're a president who regularly has your opponents murdered in broad daylight, and then one day one of your opponents just goes and actually dies in an accident for real. People still naturally suspect you did it and you're gonna deny it like always, but how is anyone supposed to figure out that it's for real this time? It's like reverse crying wolf. If you keep stealing random shit from someone, they are logically going to suspect you when they can't find their wallet, even if they just forgot where they put it. They may be wrong but it wasn't an unreasonable suspicion.

If you hear something repeatedly that has backing evidence and your response is to stop believing it you're just being contrarian or an asshole. Says a lot. About you though, not the journalists. It says you're either willfully incredibly naive or don't actually care about the awful shit the Kremlin is responsible for doing.

I hate the old "people keep saying a bad thing is happening and its annoying me so i refuse to listen and believe it anymore" as if its some kindof high ground of enlightenment. The russian governemnt is so shady you couldnt see your hand in front of you face and no amount of ignoring it will change that.
