"Those crazy and violent Dems were comin' right for us, we had to take 'em out!!!"
Assaulting journalists and getting away with it and keeping your seat in Congress is already a fait accompli, so the slope is in place and momentum is slowly building.
Eventually the right's persecution and victimization complex will become so extreme that they'll consider political opponents to be mortal threats. The escalation will eventually be so great that killing is seen as a less dangerous option than losing any amount of power.
God save America from itself.
He would have lost if he wasn't governor previously. Plus they are all calling Democrats an angry violent mob, lol back in '64 Goldwater lost because he was painted as a right wing extremist and he was an
environmentalist and pro gay rights.
the outcomes of the midterms will determine whether or not i apply for perm residency in sweden or canada
What happens if Democrats take parts of the government
House of Representatives
Affordable Care Act is safe for now
Republicans can't pass any particularly nasty bills
They can subpoena people
Can censure Trump
Create articles of impeachment
Senate
Block Trump's judicial picks
Improve the ACA through reconciliation
Protect Mueller's investigation
Governor/State legislature
Reduce gerrymandering by the 2020 census
Improve voting rights
Expand Medicare
More importantly, they can subpoena Trump's tax returns.
Uh I think you forgot something there bud; instituting a socialist Neo-Marxist postmodern hellscape from which there is no escape.
good, i hope the blue wave hits, and i hope it hits hard
this self draining swamp needs to go and so does the gop that keeps it going
Politics is like a pendulum. If it swings too far one way, you should expect to swing back.
The analogy works both ways, it may swing too violently to one side the right and shatter the whole thing.
I'd hope that the Republican's steady drift towards open facism would generate a backlash from rational people, however the results and predictions from the last presidential election leave me believing that there is a silent electorate who just doesn't know any better. Everybody should be out voting even if you think it's set in stone, the same over-optimistic assumptions of the last election should be avoided.
VA's 10th district has been red for a while. Barbara Comstock won in 2014, defeated the democrat challenger in 2016, and is now 12 points behind Jennifer Wexton, the current democratic challenger:
Democrat Wexton leads Rep. Comstock by 12 points in northern Va...
What concerns me is that the fascists may not recognize the elections if they lose it.
Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.

Trump got what he wanted, it's all about him.
Even when that's a disadvantage to him and the party he non-consentually took over.
Not to be a spoilsport but some of the posts here are mirroring what was said by many during the month before the November 2016 elections, so I hope no one gets complacent. Assume and prepare for the worst still, and go out there and vote and pray that some good will come out in the end.
Assuming and preparing for the worst in this instance means buying guns and ammo.
