England should just leave the UK instead of removing the UK from the EU.
The ultimate "you didn't win" move.
The UK would cease to be, right? We'd have to change all the maps to say "England plus that little dangly bit of Northern Ireland"
Greater Britannic Co-Prosperity Sphere
It would still be the United Kingdom of England and Northern Ireland, I imagine. I really doubt they would drop the naming convention over this.
Well they would eventually but reactionaries, nationalists and unionists will unrecognsied it for their personal delusions.
I think all the parts of the UK should get the option to leave. Isle of Mexit. Wexit. Cexit. Northern Irexit.
Not surprised at the news, one of the big things during the last referendum was an effective fear campaign from the anti-independence side which successfully capitalized on doubts over the success of an independent Scotland. Now with Brexit looming, the consistent failure to find a deal with the EU and a stream of dire predictions in the papers by those with actual qualifications has lead to a Scotland once again with two choices before it, except this time both choices have no guarantee of safety to them. Scotland voted strongly against Brexit but despite that we can choose either potential economic hardship, or potential economic hardship - if we get to choose at all. if we get another referendum I'll be voting to be part of a union which hasn't spent two years selecting the largest cannon it can find to shoot at its foot - I'd love to believe Westminster has been playing 14-dimensional chess all this time but I just can't picture it, so choose your flavour of hard times. (bit peeved if you can't tell)
This thread is surreal to me, grand strategy gamers from outside the UK fantasizing about the break up the union into small countries as a 'fuck you' to England, or the Tories or something else daft.
Northern Ireland's referendum would be "Do you want to join the Republic of Ireland"
