The businesses got away with making as much money as they wanted by paying people as little as they wanted, and the government made bank doing it. Sounds like a capitalist win-win to me.
So now the difference between a socialist country and fascist one is democratic election? Do you think the business owners voted to have their private property taken away?
He done Marx proud then.
I don't recall ever saying the Soviet Union was socialist, did I?
Sorry I didn't drink the Marx Kool Aid. I'm still waiting on someone to actually give me an example of a communist country that didn't kill or imprison it's political enemies or have someone explain to me why it's ok for Antifa to use violence to attack people they disagree with. But go ahead and scream insults instead of using arguments.
I'm actually taking his actions into account. Hitler used socialist economic tactics while calling himself a socialist. Sorry if I am going to mention the fact that Hitler's economic strategies were very close to socialism and mention the FACT that Fascism is very similar to socialism in that both have the government control business rather than allowing the free market do it.
"In the years 1913 and 1914 I expressed my opinion for the first time in various circles, some of which are now members of the National Socialist Movement, that the problem of how the future of the German nation can be secured is the problem of how Marxism can be exterminated"- Hitler, Mein Kampf.
Hitler purged the left leaning aspect of the Nazi Party, that being the SA headed by Ernst Rohm and Otto Strasser in the Night of the Long Knives.
Hitler privatized large sectors of German industry and openly voiced his contempt for Communists and Marxists.
What does the existence of a country like that add to the argument?
And literal widespread fascism is quite a bit more dangerous than being punched in the face. Antifa isn't organised, so of course it's not gonna be working out perfectly cleanly - But I'm sure that even you realize that it's very dangerous to not do anything about the apparent rise of nazi/fascist ideology.
My point was that most, if not all, failed Socialist states can be described as having being founded on some asshole putting himself in charge. Stalin, Hitler, Mao, you name it, they likely share something similar in that regard, but there are plenty of other "non-socialist" countries that have/had the same pains, so it almost seems like violent over-throw resulting in a massive fuck-up isn't an inherently Socialist thing.
Hitler's form of "privatization" often involved the state telling a business how it must operate, what it must produce, how much it must produce, ect.
So every socialist government ever isn't actually socialist? So no state has ever actually been socialist then? What would you call Venezuela? It definitely isn't capitalism.
Literal widespread Fascism? Are there actually people saying the government should make millions of people work for free as government slaves or that the government should take control of the automobile industry in order to prevent corruption? I think I am more likely to get punched in the face than see that happen, and I am far, far, far more likely to get punched in the face than have the united states government put me into a gas chamber due to the color of my skin.
And violence isn't the answer. Guess what happens when you commit violence against a group of people? They get violent back. Now the chance of me getting punched in the face has just doubled.
Failed how? Failed as in "no longer exist", or failed as in "Whoops turns out they were brutal dictators all along!"?
"You recognize racial stereotypes, so you are the true racist for making the connection"
nah
Well good luck stopping a movement. There's nobody in control.
Spreading hateful ideologies will always have strong repercussions.
If they get violent back, well then it'll only grow until the governments get involved.
Failed as in they resulted in complete economic destruction, erosion of freedom, government violence and starvation. This is true for ALL socialist countries.
The rise of Fascists is scary but far more scary is the rise of socialists because there are a lot more people who see themselves as socialist and if either get what they want I am dead either from the gas chamber or by starvation. At least the gas chamber would be quick.
So... Pre-WWII Germany, Czarist Russia, pre-socialist China...
Again, it's almost like those nations were fucked before socialism and saw socialism as a great PR move to push the next entitled asshole into power.
How on earth can you be more afraid of socialism than fascism? It's fascists marching through college campuses chanting "You will not replace us". It's fascists running down peaceful demonstrators with their cars. It's fascists beating people in the streets of New York and Washington. It's fascists setting up on rooftops with rifles and ammunition. It's fascists bragging about the level of support they have in American institutions like the police and government.
Not if you use the duck test
Blaming socialism for the problems those countries had, BTW, is like blaming a blanket for burning down your restaurant because some asshole decided "I'll put out this grease fire by smothering it!"
brazil too, probably some places in europe
*something* will happen soon, fairly sure of it.
Because he might get punched in the face, man! Have some sympathy!
There is one reason and one reason only to not be afraid of them. That would be because you're with them.
I'm personally not afraid of fascists because I know I'm a better person than that.
And then their economies actually get better once they drop that stupid shit and do Capitalism. Look at North vs South Korea as an example of how a simple economic philosophy difference will destroy your country. Notice how there are literally 0 examples of a Socialist country doing well?
There are far more Socialists in the 1st world than Fascists so there are far more to worry about. Also you clearly don't know what Fascism is. Someone being more right wing than you doesn't make them a Fascist. FYI, if a Fascist was bragging about their support in a democratic republic then they aren't actually fascist.
I will, because socialism doesn't work and never has and never will. I blame communism for why N.Korea is shit while south Korea isn't. If a country goes from Communism/Socialism to Capitalism and their GDP instantly starts improving it's kind of obvious what the issue was.
How dare I actually be scared of literal violence against me above people people simply disagreeing with me.
I like how you bring up North Korea, aka the Democratic People's Republic of, Korea where only one word of that sentence it true, and that's just a half-truth.
Yet NK is really far from communism, which you would know if actually did your homework
People often fear what they don't understand, so it's understandable why you'd be scared.
North Korea isn't communist? This is the first I ever heard of this.
Really? Seems to me I am literally the only person in this thread who actually knows what Fascism unlike everyone else who just thinks it means being racist. But no, go explain how North Korea isn't actually communist and Venezuela isn't actually Socialist and how real communism/socialism hasn't actually been tried or whatever. I have defined what socialism is and showed examples of it. Socialists and communists will do whatever they can to try to pretend that every time their experiment fails it doesn't count because that isn't what true socialism/communism is.
Face it, these are failed systems, you cannot defend them and watching you try is sad. Why not instead try to promote the system that actually works in the countries you live in?
Did their economies do better once they "dropped that stupid shit", or did their economies do better because they realized "oh hey being an asshole doesn't work because there are people who can be a MUCH bigger asshole than we can"?
That and if I recall, Nazi Germany wasn't doing so bad once they took over, but then, once again, you have to remember the context of where they were coming from: Damn-near fuckin' nothing, nothing but spite and vitriol, anyway.
Because he wants to be scared and not understand. In the time window he could have used to watch the video provided by Gman4life he instead cut up little bits of posts to answer to in a composite shitpost format. Generally, you want to look into the resources provided to you by other users to try and understand the disagreement at hand before you rebound.
It’s okay to be scared of masked people in black, I don’t expect anyone to understand the importance of anonymity in protests or the cultural relevance of the color black in anarchist theory in a few hours, nor is anyone trying to humanize antifa for him. And I don’t think we’re going to get to this point if he’s going to keep clinging to the same arguments to equate socialism and nationalsozialismus.
Pigeon chess.
Yes. Because doing sensible economic policies works better than stupid ones. Literally EVERY socialist and communist country that has ever been tried has bean a horrible failure while every successful country has been Capitalist. Socialism has a 0% success rate. It does not work and it cannot work. Being an asshole is inherent to socialism because the only way you can keep your socialist country socialist is to imprison all the smart people who know how horrible it is to be socialist. Capitalism has proven itself to work, socialism has proven itself to fail. Do you know how economic gain happens? Investment. That doesn't happen in a country where the government controls the businesses instead of smart self motivated people. If you run an experiment 100 times and each time it comes up with one result you would have to be an idiot to claim otherwise. You are looking at the socialist experiment and saying "No, it's actually good, all those dozens and dozens and dozens of times it failed was because of some other reason, it's not socialism fault!"
There is a state, there are classes, there is money, and the means of productions aren't in the hands of the workers. Do you also believe it's a republic and that it's democratic?
