that situation was different, and was grey for a reason: not choosing to make a cake for a gay wedding in the religiously backed belief that marriage is between a man and a woman made it a bit dicey because then the guy would have to participate in an institution he believed immoral. even then, while whether he was right or wrong is still up to debate, what this bill proposes is a lot more than that.
So which one is it then?
Religious reasons are not acceptable IMO.
There aren't acceptable ones really.
You have aspergers?
If you had your own way, schools wouldnt have taken you in, because it often costs more to take of of students with that. It is because of these government laws exactly that you still have access to education and to the workforce.
remove those protections and you will find yourself thrown aside by a small number of assholes who happen to have a position of power.
Yet here you are, wanting to strip away the privilege of having rights from others when you yourself benefit from it.
hypocrite.
Chryseus, if the free market and "they'd lose money" and "they'd get a bad reputation" were enough to stop discrimination, we wouldn't have needed the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
hey buddy, i got this degenerative joint tissue disease that's slowly putting me in a wheelchair and makes long-distance travel almost impossible. what if the only kind of business i need within 10 miles just doesn't want a ramp out front? do i move house? do i hope there's a hotel near a different business that'll take me?
this deflection is pathetic. that's the only word for it. you're a fucking grown man saying this, but the differences between you and me would be obvious to a child. but you've been discriminated against "on occasion" for something a business owner wouldn't even know you have, so i guess as far as you're concerned we're the same. did you think this through even a little?
"Just move" lol these people actually want to live in a society where minorities are forced to move from their homes in order to find businesses that serve them, rather than just preventing businesses from discriminating for bullshit reasons. Fucking unbelievable.
The two can go hand in hand buddy. A lot of people use religion as an excuse for their hatred.
If you can't understand why discrimination is a bad thing, idk if there's much to tell you, maybe go read the declaration of human rights or smt.
