He's staying out of the limelight so he can pretend to be a respectable figure when he steps forward to take Trump's place
Not being from Indiana, I didn't know anything about him until he wanted to introduce conversion therapy camps for gay people. Since then he's just faded into nothingness after becoming VP. He's just a barnacle clinging to Mr. Tang's ass.
ECT (electro convulsive therapy) is a super effective treatment for some mental disorders such as depression (but due to the side effects like mild retrograde amnesia is best saved as a last resort). It definitely shouldn't be used against homosexuality because homosexuality isn't a mental disorder. My sibling underwent ECT for depression and is coming off of it and they're getting her memories back. The amnesia is entirely temporary. The problem isn't the fact that ECT shouldn't be used ever, the problem is that people (often teenagers) are being subjected to treatments that adversely affect your ability to live a normal life (and especially affect your ability to perform in school or a job), for something that isn't even a mental disorder. If you're so depressed that you can't do literally anything, ECT might help. If you're living a normal life but happen to be gay, ECT has nothing but downsides. Honestly ECT is basically the psychological equivalent to nuclear power. It's portrayed so inaccurately in media people just think it's torture.
