• US Election Results 2018 - A blue wave in a sea of piss

Whatever the result is, I just pray to god that things don't get any worse before 2020. Hopefully today will help pick things up before then, especially with Amendment 4 here in FL.
I had a whole Gouden Carolus Cuvée Van De Keizer on 2016 election night. It was too much but also necessary.
I feel like I also fall under the category of "physically addicted to charts and graphs"
HOLD ONTO YOUR BUTTS THE WEST IS ABOUT TO REPORT
It's not even remotely close to over - people are freaking out over how "close" the Texas race is, when basically every district only has 1 precinct reporting. My home county has 1 reporting - out of 49. There are a lot of votes yet to be counted - oftentimes the first results that come in are in more rural precincts, where vote counts are lowest and the counting process quickly. In my district in Minnesota, for example, Amy Klobuchar is losing! How could that be possible? Oh, it's in one precinct... by 23 votes. Out of less than 600. It's way, waaayy too early to call most of these races. When you have 1/50 precincts reporting, things can change very quickly, and it could be very non-representative of the actual votes. People just need to chill - I'd be fucking floored if the Dems don't win the House at this point. Don't agonize over vote counts this early. Just wait for 5-6 more hours and then start worrying.
just walked to the store for an anxious beer run and came back to way better prospects for dems in the house. hopefully i'll be celebration drunk tonight instead of sad drunk
Yeah, remember how much of a nailbiter Doug Jones' election was (if you followed that)? And that was with in the 90s reporting. Sub 40% is like they haven't even started counting votes yet.
Looks like we might be legally blazin it up here in the Mitten State, too.
97% reporting and both Bill Nelson and Andrew Gillum look they lost. Goddamn, just fuck my state.
I hear you man, but even tequila can't fully mask the pain of around half your country having an issue with you just existing. I worked hard, I got a high-paying job, I pay my taxes, I obey the law. I'm just gay. All I want is to marry the person I love and live a quiet life, and yet I have the trashiest, most parasitic individuals alive telling me that's not okay because it makes them uncomfortable. The obese trailer-park welfare queen with eight kids by nine fathers who's on disability because her "foot hurts". The subsidized-to-hell-and-back dirt farmer living in the middle of bumfuck nowhere where they don't ever have to encounter anyone unless they really feel like it. These people, uncomfortable with my life choices while living on my tax dollar, go fucking figure.
In my state, our incumbent republican attorney general, who is attempting to remove trans workers' legal protections, is running unopposed because the democratic nominee was convicted of fucking strangulating his father. What an awesome situation to be in.
Looks like repubs are going to take Oklahoma, 82% in but Stitt has 55% for governor.
He'll just sink back into his pool of tonsil stones and wait.
Nah. He'll go back to his night job—shooting couples and leaving notes written in the fictional language he made up for his ARG.
Real time 538 forecast is now >90% for Dems to take the House, which is really what it looked like we should hope for going in.

Mormon wins Mormon state. Disappointing but not surprising.

She is certainly one of the most good looking politicians i've ever laid eyes on though

Horrifying thought: Maybe we're not so different after all.
Okay their dude (chris stirewalt) said they figured it through "voter analysis" but won't say by how much of a margin they will win by. Said they'll tell later.
woo go kansas I hope this doesn't jinx it but woo go kansas go us
It's good to know that misery is bi-partisan.
It's really nice to see progress like this. It's weird that it keeps happening (first muslim woman, a trans delegate recently here in VA) despite the fact that it feels like politics in general is regressing conservative.
So it seems the bombs and the Pittsburgh shooting had no affect or actually helped the GOP

ABC called texas as projected winner
Local elections where very disappointing. Marcys law passed, and a wholly unqualified woman won commonwealth attorney over my district. SHe basically ran on the idea that victims are treated like shit and that criminals get off light, often times pointing to her own case. The fella that kidnapped her went away for life (not sure how much more you can put someone away for kidnapping). Her book that she wrote about the whole ordeal is listed as fiction because she claims she did the whole thing all by herself. She was even running against the fella that put the dude that attacked her away for life. Add to that, that she's never actually done anything in actual criminal court before, so she's the top prosecutor in the district and she won on a populist message that wasn't based in reality. Also in my district a 15 year old kid (republican) has a good chance of winning soil and conservation clerk simply because hes a republican.
