Can't say I'm pleased with the Senate outcome, but at least I can sleep tonight with the knowledge that I'll get to read about tons of House investigations for the next two years.
Hold up, how is this one thing Florida passes Amendment 9, banning both offshore oil drilling a..
Gillum ran a pro-worker, pro-family, not strongly anti-gun campaign that didn't rely on the "identity politics" that others have accused Democrats of doing in the past. There are going to be a lot of hot takes on why he lost to what is essentially mini-Trump.
Republicans dont vote on anything other than the letter next to the candidates name on the ballot
Bloomberg Friendly reminder of last month's news. With the House being blue and investigations being something that can actively proceed better, Mueller's key findings after this election may pave way to something even better that may carryover until the 2020 elections. Even if it turns out to be small, these slow but steady victories may pave way to a dramatic shift for the better in the future.

Another bit of good news to come out tonight was (and still is) how strongly the Democrats performed tonight. Got some seats in Texas after all, and while Cruz won his re-election, the fact that the race was even within 5% is something to be excited about. I think it shows how a likable guy like Beto can win over a lot of hearts in what was once considered to be a Republican stronghold. The Democrats will take control of the house without a doubt, and I'm excited to see how we'll be able to clamp down on Trump in the coming months. Not to mention that Mueller's probably going to deliver some important information.
do not offshore oil drill inside your enclosed workplaces please
It's Florida, what do ya expect
B-but I thought the dems keep running on not being the Trump party! God I hate this meme. Between this and the Clinton dead horse people are insufferable about the dems, the Republicans pulled off by far the best smear campaign of all time. People will be scapegoating Clinton and will be associating the party with her for the next 100 years.
Medical marijuana in 2016, voting rights for felons and no offshore drilling this year. But they still vote for Scott and DeSantis. I guess thats Florida.
I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize up-front for the next two years of whatever comes out of Florida. We really tried with Gillum and Nelson, but it seems more than half the people want a trump wanna-be representing them. With any luck, the 1.4m voters given their right to vote back by Amendment 4 will remember this night and pay attention to how DeSantis and Scott affect the state.

Ted already sold his spine to Trump. If he managed to find enough vertebrae to stand up to him in 2020 then he would basically be giving up his Senate seat because being ~pro Trump senator~ is important and more than enough to tip the scales. Republicans will be forced to find a replacement for him at that point and then once he inevitably loses to Trump he will be gone forever unless he decides to crawl into some other office.
I can't believe those idiots voted for Beta.
Absolutely insane how many people are stripped away from voting rights in the US Next elections in Florida will be interesting

Best case the Senate stays at 51-49 with Arizona and Nevada offsetting North Dakota and Indiana, 52-48 if McCaskill loses, any more then then and we're ded
The committee defended it because "they're both about the environment."
There weren't any R's next to the Amendments, so people were confused and had to use logic and morals on those.
damn they couldn't have done this yesterday?
Nah, they didn't use logic. They just voted yes down each one. All but one of the amendments on Floridas ballots passed.
Vindication? Trump torpedoed the Republican's total control of the legislative branch in just two fucking years. And two years from now most of the Republicans will be playing defense in the Senate instead of the Democrats. They are in deep shit, especially if the Dems can field a decent presidential candidate this time.
winning the house is still a big deal. all legislation has to go through both houses of congress maybe republicans will learn to compromise
Something else good to take away from this election is that polls do work. The districts that were forecast blue are going blue, the districts that were forecast red almost all are going red, the tossups are close and are going both ways. The general expectation going in is what we got - Democrat House, Republican Senate. So anyone who saw 2016 and decided polls were for fools and you can't trust numbers... well, the numbers were right this time.
I've heard that the Florida governor election is the one to most watch out for because it'll be an indicator of the 2020 election. Expect to see much more Trump style politics and red herrings.
Im curious as to the extent that Trump's term has had on these results. Is this any more of a swing than is typical in election cycles?

They'll just blame Democrats for being obstructionists as they have been doing the past two years.
