US Elections 2018: Democrats take House, Republicans keep Senate,

If you have a solution, I'd like to hear it. The limp dick attitude of the dems is what got us the howling snake pit that is washington. Playing by the rules means you get played like a chump because not only were the rules unfair to begin with, but the ghouls who abused those unfair rules made them worse. We tried "going high" and it got us Trump and Kavanuaugh and every other troglodyte that infests the GOP.
it wasnt a blue wave or a red tide, it was a purple rain
sorry but most people who disagree with you in government aren't nazis.
can you try not demonizing people for their dumb political beliefs
So Trump just claimed that Obama is responsible for Crimea being annexed by Russia.
Man, this federal legislature is gonna lock up so hard, it'll make 2012's look like greased lightning.
Can you try not forgiving people for being exactly as bad as they are? Their political beliefs aren't 'dumb'. They're violent, divisive, disruptive, unamerican, racist, xenophobic, and fascist.
Republicans literally don't want to solve any problems, they think the free market should be in charge of it all. How can we let such negligent retards do their damage?

For those who want the audio
Then we should not criticize the reds for doing exactly what we ourselves are advocating. Sure, I'll admit they started it, but I would like to see democrats stay above the childish gridlock and actually work with the Reds until the party changes or they stop getting elected. The average Republican voter probably doesn't want their party to just sit their gridlocking the democrats. I would hope the average voter (on both sides) would want to see progress be made, and we would elect our officials based off that. Right now, people like Mitch McConnell are almost certainly on their way out as their antics become more and more public and vilifying. We shouldn't appoint Democrats that will throw us into the exact same place, just with the sides reversed.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, yes, they do it, and no, we shouldn't do it just because they do. The Democrats should preach awareness of Republican gridlocking, instead of throwing everything they got into the fire as well. When awareness is raised, that party will be voted out. If they aren't... well then the people have the will of the politician, and a compromise should be reached, not both sides building up walls.
How does building up walls help undivide this country? How does blocking everything the reds do just like they blocked us help undivide the country? Why can't the blues attempt to be the "bigger politician" and work with Republican policy until they get voted out (meaning the people are ready for full unashamedly left ideas) or they don't get voted out (meaing the people want more of the compromises). I get that the very system of voting in this country is rigged, so I guess try to read this arguement with the notion that our elections aren't as broken as they may appear.
Half this country is Red whether we like or not. We felt abused when the Reds shot down everything we proposed in the minority. How do you think they feel when we do the same thing? I don't care how Mitch McConnell feels, I care how the Republican living in rural Indiana who has no problem with Gay people but differs from me on economic beliefs. They would feel exactly how we felt during the minority. They will feel surpressed, they will feel angry, and the us vs. them mentality gets further ingrained into our politics.
That half of the country is voting for people because they want those policies! That's half the country! Yeah, when they were in power they ignored the blue half, I just don't think the blue have should reciprocate that when they are in power.
Regardless of whether they're nazis or not I think the important point is that republicans obviously want a single-party state and, against a foe which will use every dirty trick in the book to achieve that goal, you cannot afford to be milquetoast, or that WILL get what they want.
We tried compromise and kid gloves and it didn't work. It just made things worse.
No. We absolutely should.
Are you one of the people who, in the American Revolution, would've called for us to lay down our arms and to simply 'let King George walk over us because otherwise we become King George'?
You can't compromise with people who refuse to be compromised with.
When their idea of 'compromise' is 'kiss my feet, adopt my policies by the letter, and call me your close friend and ally before I'll agree with anything you say' then there's no room to compromise. They don't want Unity through Comrpomise. They want Fascism through Capitulation.
Reading through this huge new WaPo article on how the Dems did it. One interesting point: Nancy Pelosi apparently gave Dem candidates permission to chat shit about her if it would help them win
Pelosi made clear there were no consequences for denouncing her. “Just win, baby,” became her mantra. Candidates like Kansas Democrat Paul Davis, one of the first to publicly oppose Pelosi, were quietly invited to Washington to receive strategy advice and a pep talk from Pelosi.
“She allowed a large swath of candidates to run against the party without consequence and present themselves as genuine political outsiders,” said Andy Surabian, a former White House political adviser who worked for Donald Trump Jr. later in the cycle.
But you understand the average Republican American isn't a crazy Fascist who wants absolutely nothing to get done until the state is as right as Nazi Germany?
How can the blues winover red votes if their behavior says "we hate you and we will never do anything you propose"
Could you imagine, personally, ever voting for a republican? Why or why not?
I disagree with locking up immigrant children like wild dogs
Lmao
Before a Pennsylvania special election in March, the Congressional Leadership Fund, a super PAC affiliated with Ryan that would spend $107 million on House broadcast ads, sent a researcher to Pittsburgh for three weeks to find dirt on Democratic candidate Conor Lamb, a Marine veteran who had also served as a federal prosecutor. The effort turned up nothing, a fact that CLF’s executive director, Corry Bliss, would later explain to a group of Republicans, including Ryan.
“So you are saying he is a good person?” asked Ryan.
“Yeah, it sucks,” Bliss responded.
If they're allowing and aiding the people who are crazy Fascists who are willing to do absolutely anything until the state is as right as Nazi Germany then yes I will consider them crazy Fascists.
If there's a Jew, a Nazi, and a Bystander, and the Nazi asks permission from the Bystander to shoot the Jew and the Bystander shrugs and goes 'sure, I guess, I don't have anything really against Nazi policies' then that Bystander is a willing co-conspirator.
"I was just following orders to keep my Senate seat" is not an excuse nor does it distance you from the fascists who are trying to make the state Fascist.
Maybe if the Republicans came up with policy that wasn't morally and ethically repugnant then maybe people would give them more of a chance.
I have voted for Republicans. I am an independent. This is not about my political views - it is about theirs.
Pelosi's not as dumb as people think, she knows how unpopular she is, she just doesn't think it's justified.
Obama tried your proposed method and the republicans did nothing to reciprocate, and they won't this time either. The five most powerful republicans in the Legislative branch have stated openly and flatly for the last five years they have no plans to ever work with democrats on anything for any reason.
Those days are gone. The only change that will come in American politics is when the republicans run out money, the republicans will only run out of money when corporations are no longer allowed to influence legislation by law (and even then it won't stop) or when climate change issues become so devastating they can no longer be ignored even by rich people. We are a very long way from that. If the democrats want ot get things done, enough people need to vote them into office as an overwhelming majority in every branch of government.
you're overstating how much nazis are involved in mainstream politics
You're understating and ignoring how much policy tantamount to nazi policy is involved in current-day Republican politics.
Today's GOP is a fascist party. It needs to be burned to the ground and the ashes salted so that it never recovers. By any means necessary.
If Americans want fiscal conservatism, they can vote Libertarian. If they want social conservatism, they can move to Saudi Arabia. They love that kind there.
There are Nazis on the president's cabinet, there were Nazis running in these elections, at least one of them won! At what point is it acceptable to talk about Nazi involvement in mainstream politics?
Trump visited Montana 4 times, more than any other state in the midterms. He really fucking hated Tester. Glad he can choke on it, Tester isn't going anywhere.
Holy shit this news conference with Trump is great. It's an even bigger dumpster fire than usual, you can tell he's so pissed off right now.
