OH MY GOD, JEB COMES IN WITH A STEEL CHAIR!

2016 and 2018 have shown Democrats need to appeal to the suburbs and midwest to win. What candidate appeals the most to white upper middle class surburbanites
Yeah it looks like I can still award the coins so I'll do that once we have final seat totals
How bad was it exactly? I went to bed at like noon.
Harley Rouda is currently beating Dana Russiabacher. Please one last big win. Please.
Dems have the house
GOP have the senate
It briefly looked like Republicans could keep the House.
So the House is more important than the Senate for the Democrats right now or am i missing something?
It was pretty hard, I had to slam 99% Invisible with Roman Mars on at maximum volume to drown out my mental rendition of Sound of Silence
House gets to create committees, so guess what is going to happen now that they are in control.
The main benefit of the Senate is that it would then block Trump's nominees, the House under Democrat control will ensure no more tax cuts or Obamacare repeals, and will air all of Trump's laundry.
I know the situation now, I was asking about the "dark times" people mentioned.
They call him the zombie for a reason, just go away Walker jesus christ
Smoke for the most part
House is good for the investigative power it provides, but the Senate confirms court nominees. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, and I wish we had snagged both chambers, but I'm not going to bemoan the fact that we at least got a decent chunk of power once again.
The House was the only one they realistically had any chance of taking this election, it's not a matter of one being more important than the other.
Waukesha is reporting and his number is going up
Ugh, Gavin Newsome is going to be my governor. I wish it was someone different. He's a slimy bastard.
Not quite, but the House has its perks, including the power of investigations/subpoenas. AKA, Trump's tax returns among other things are all fair game now
General gridlock is also a perk. The GOP has to... [gasp] cooperate with Democrats to pass more palatable and bipartisan legislation now.
There was a period of about 45 minutes where it looked like the GOP kept the house
Not necessarily. Taking the Senate was always going to be a hail Mary because of the amount of Democratic seats up for reelection this year compared to Republican seats. The House was more realistic because all seats are up every 2 years.
How is this the first time I'm seeing this pun.
I said this in the last thread, that happens EVERY ELECTION RESULT CYCLE
You did it guys!
To be fair though, can you blame people for being on a hair trigger ever since 2016 when the Trump election first appeared to be the same way before later turning for the worst?
2016 fucked up a lot of people.
Michigan reporting in:
Stabenow (D) is a lock in for Senate.
Democrats are holding a slim lead in house candidates so far, but two districts are currently neck-and-neck (fingers crossed for Slotkin).
Whitmer (D) has a more than 10 percent lead on governorship, and with most of the districts in she looks safe.
Proposal 1 (recreational marijuana) is projected to pass with a current lead of 15%.
Proposal 2 (anti-gerrymandering board) is projected to pass with a lead of almost 30%!
For the first time in two years I think I can rest easy tonight.
News channels also want views, they do this everytime to keep everyone watching
For a while it reaaaally looked like a repeat of 2016, people were talking about "this isn't the night Democrats hoped for" and all the forecasts were ticking back towards the GOP
In the end it seems like the Dems did about what was expected, just none of the 'wildest dreams' crazy shit happened like Beto winning or a blue tsunami. I really just wanted total GOP control to end so I'm happy
