Looks like Nevada, New Mexico, and Colorado are becoming solidly blue, while Arizona is becoming a swing state. Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania are staying swing states and are swinging toward dems. Pennsylvania may be becoming bluer with the redistricting and population change. Iowa looks to be becoming more of a swing state. Florida should get some blue tint after Amendment 4.

2020 will be the Democrat's chance to annihilate the GOP and take control of 2 branches. If they then expand the number of Supreme Court members they'll also take control of the third.

The SCOTUS issue is very sad, court packing is an abrogation of justice but Republicans started it and have done much worse.

Not sure why anyone would be pessimistic, the Democrats did about as well as projected. Some good ballot initiatives won and while Beto lost, it was by a closer margin than a lot of polls predicted, and some are saying he contributed to some flipped house seats. Off the top of my head the only real upset is DeSantis defeating Gillum in Florida. Gillum has had an edge victory for the past few days in polls.

Your constitution IS broken. It shouldn't come as a surprise that rich slave owners of the late 18th century maybe wouldn't create a completely 100% perfect form of government. I dare say the best way to actually create a constitution is to liberally apply the veil of ignorance all the time everywhere. Create a country in which you do not know whether you live as an immigrant, a woman, someone of a different skin color, someone who is disabled etc.

Everything went about as I expected. Some painful, but predictable defeats, but managing to secure the House so comfortably is nothing but good news. We'll finally have the leverage we need to combat Trump's destructive, kleptocratic policy, which is to say nothing about finally bringing some goddamn integrity back to the House Intelligence Committee, among other notable benefits. The biggest disappointment tonight is, of course, Beto losing to Cruz. The odds were never in his favor, but Beto is just so goddamn dedicated, charismatic, passionate, and honest. He has everything it takes to become a legendary statesman, or even the President of the United States one day. Texas, and the United States as a whole, deserves a hell of a lot better than Ted Cruz, whose most notable accomplishment is being the largest land-dwelling invertebrate, and for being so fundamentally pathetic and unlikable his own starved, pickled ego has devoted itself to desperately signalling for help through his tortured eyes and quivering lips.
