Firgof if you genuinely believe that the country is about to turn in to a shithole then you can understand the increased importance of being able to stay alive in that shithole in case that despite any actions that you as an individual commit it becomes a shithole anyway.
In that case you are better off ensuring your own safety so that you can continue resisting.
TBH being able to provide cash is probably more useful then showing up as one additional body to protest vs a regime that clearly isn't interested in listening to you.
