Mueller rapid response protests activated, scheduled for Thursday at 5pm

It's supposed to storm here in Austin today during the protests - guess I'm getting my raincoat! Don't let yourself be prevented from having your voice heard by weather.
I'd avoid anything that would cover your face to be honest, the whole ski-mask/bandanna has a bad social stigma, the more you can look average the better.
Don't hide yourself, this is important and you should be seen. Don't hide behind anonymity and for the love of god don't go in hipster antifa style clothing, it'll just make things worse.
I hope this all goes smoothly for you all, if you see anything or anyone trying to go violent, please try to de-escalate it, prove to the whole world that protests can actually be functional, not riots, especially in the case of this one, it has to be impactful as this has effects for not just the US.
I'll be standing with all of you by sitting on my ass and watching it on TV because unlike with the Muslim ban there are no solidarity protests over here this time AFAIK, godspeed America
Find some protesters and adopt them. Be their friend in the UK and boost their message, send them your support, and so forth. You can be active for these protests while still sitting on your butt.
If I owned a car I'd hit up springfield but unfortunately my town's slightly too podunk to be involved with this any meaningful way. If I see anything happening locally on socials I'll bring my camera and try and show support through photography but I doubt there will be anything like that. :/
Not with THAT attitude it won't, mister. >:C
So far I've heard literally nothing about any of these protests materializing in my city
They start in 4 hours, after most people get off work and get out of school. I could go at any time I liked -- I'm arriving 15 minutes early.
I'm aware. Usually there would be buzz on facebook, I would texts from friends, I would start seeing people post instagram stories getting ready for it. News would start to pick up on the beat. Nothing. It feels live MoveOn blew their wad.
I've not posted anything because I'm too busy getting all my stuff packed, looking stuff up, and getting mentally prepared (while also trying to do some of my work this week in advance so I won't have to play catch up so much if this takes multiple days)

Just to remove any doubt. See you all on the streets.
Well, that's it. This is officially a war on the rule of law.
Sounds like your folks are trying to shut you down.
Don't let them.
This is also quite sudden compared to other organised protests. People have been aware that they need to be ready to protest. But usually they have a fixed date, time and place they need to be at. This one has always been a "the second he steps too far, we go" deal which means there's very little time to prep and signal boost outside of those who already know where they need to be.
It's a risky way to organise something like this. I hope it works out.
I think it's already too late.
It's only as late as you allow it to be.
Oh yeah, I am absolutely expecting the Proud Boys to show up today, MAKE SURE TO RECORD EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS AND UPLOAD IT!!!!!!
That's a very nice thought but the factual basis for protests rely on a collective sense of urgency that doesn't seem to have manifested yet. Most people woke up to news of another shooting this morning. What a fucking nightmare, this place. If anything, the weekend will give people time to actually organize and for headlines about the AG to accumulate a bit more.
Hello. I am a manifestation of that sense of urgency. There are other people in this thread who are also part of the collective sense that I am presently being a manifestation of.
I composed a speech for my local event. Please take inspiration from it and share its ideas with your own communities.
"I’d like to start out by telling everyone I’m so damn proud of each and every one of you here. We all managed to pull together on this brisk, fall Thursday afternoon to join our fellow americans across the entire sweep of the country to raise one unified voice and say that a line has been crossed.
"Now I know many have assumptions about those gathered here today, both those within the crowd and our fellow countrymen watching from home. But I gotta say, looking at the faces before me, that those assumptions are not true. Because I see in front of me the faces of the old and the young. I see students, working folk, and retirees. I see people of every possible color, religion, and gender. And I know there are both republicans and democrats gathered here today.
"The only brush this crowd can be painted with is that we all believe in the idea of America. An idea that america is a land where the hot flame of justice cannot be quenched by the abuses and sins of powerful men. And like a loving family, this idea and this land has welcomed each and every one of us, whether it was through birth or through adoption or as guests. We each believe in the strength that family has and are here to demonstrate that strength today.
"Now I was born here. And I vividly remember during Clinton’s impeachment asking my parents what our president was in trouble for. And maybe it’s because they didn’t want to explain to a 6 year old why it was bad for someone to play his flute while he played his sax, but they would evade and evade and evade. Well I’m 26 now and I’m damn well old enough to demand an explanation for the behaviour of our elected officials.
"I’m old enough to start pitching in and shouldering some of the work it takes to keep this family together. Because the only way america can remain the land of the free is if we are brave. The good people of america cannot stand idle as cruel men work. Which is why I’m so damn proud to see each and every one of you out here pulling your weight.
"I want each and everyone of you to show washington that this is just the beginning. We’re going get involved in our communities. We’re going to vote in every election brought before us. We will continue to speak out against abuses of power. We will not stop, we will not rest, and we will not forgive until the blazing fire of justice has cast its light on every hole and crevice dug by those who fear its flame. Let all our officials know that we demand Matthew Whitaker recuse himself from the Russia Investigation and let them all know that if they refuse, Fort Collins is gonna tear em’ asunder! "
I advise against the usage of asunder for anyone who isn't a supervillain.
Guess we'll find out
True. We are already presently starting to find out, of course, but we won't know the full extent until later today.

It's my university's football team's battle cry. It's admittedly pretty aggressive and I was on the fence about its inclusion, but it is pretty popular around here. I'll reconsider it though.
I usually hate the "Trump is distracting from x" cliche, but Acostagate was instigated by the White House moments before Sessions was fired and is exactly the sort of thing they know will absorb the media's attention
If I hadn't already bailed to New Zealand I'd be out there with you guys. Be safe today
Signed up to go in my area. Never been to a protest due to being active duty military before. Will be interesting since it says there's gonna be thousands where I live.
Guess a water bottle will due for any needs.
The protests'll take it right back
Another thing to do if you want to send a message to the House and Senate, sign the MoveOn petition that Congress must do everything in its power to protect the Mueller investigation.
Made some edits if that's ok:
"I’d like to start out by telling everyone I’m so damn proud of each and every one of you here. We all managed to pull together on this brisk, fall Thursday afternoon to join our fellow americans across the entire sweep of the country to raise one unified voice and say that a line has been crossed.
"Now I know many have assumptions about those gathered here today, both those within the crowd and our fellow countrymen watching from home. But I gotta say, looking at the faces before me, that those assumptions are not true. [The statement about assumptions is too vague to be refuted, probably best to nix it entirely. It's not necessary.] Because I see in front of me the faces of the old and the young. I see students, working folk, and retirees. I see people of every possible color, religion, and gender. And I know there are both republicans and democrats gathered here today.
"The only brush this crowd can be painted with is that [Not bad, but also not necessary.] We all believe in the idea of America. An idea that america is a land where the hot flame of justice cannot be quenched by the abuses and sins of [Not sure that religious terms are the best idea here] powerful men.
And maybe it’s because there are some things [in better taste - they'll know what you mean] they didn’t want to explain to a 6 year old. Well I’m 26 now and I’m damn well old enough to demand an explanation for the behaviour of our elected officials.
"I’m old enough to start pitching in and shouldering some of the work it takes to keep this family together. Because the only way america can remain the land of the free is if we are brave. [Excellent!] The good people of america cannot stand idle as cruel men work. Which is why I’m so damn proud to see each and every one of you out here pulling your weight.
"I want each and everyone of you to show washington that this is just the beginning. We’re going get involved in our communities. We’re going to vote in every election brought before us. We will continue to speak out against abuses of power. We will not stop, we will not rest until justice is restored [or something similarly straightforward - nix the histrionics]. Let all our officials know that we demand Matthew Whitaker recuse himself from the Russia Investigation. and let them all know that if they refuse, Fort Collins is gonna tear em’ asunder! [Careful with this, it's a little threatening]"
Overall an excellent speech, best of luck!
