good grief the pixelation is so bad it almost looks like it says 'breathe this penis' yea not gonna go there
anyways, someone gave a nice speech and after about 2 hours most everyone had left so I took off. Decent enough turn out for 1 day notice, but still way too small for anyone to really take notice. Had some woman with a horribly high pitch voice drive by shouting something while giving a thumbs down, but her voice was so nasally I couldn't make any of it out and everyone else just seemed confused as well. likewise another guy with a big ass truck drove by real close and revved his motor extremely loud, ~presumably~ to try and fuck with everyone on the side of the road (thankfully I was back at the time but even there that shit hurt my ears) but maybe his truck just sucked lol. But otherwise there was a lot of people honking in support, which is certainly nice, and things were super calm there.
but this is still a pretty damn Red place, so yea, certainly not gonna change anything here.
[Puppy Protesting intensifies]
Same in Dayton. Organizers left after about two hours (wtf, why?) and so others started to leave after them. We had 'honk' signs and about 70% of the drivers who drove by were in support of the protest (also nearly every single public transit bus). About half the people who showed up stated this was the first time they'd ever shown up for a protest. A few folks stopped and were educated because they didn't know what was going on.
This is Dayton, Ohio though -- even having that much support shows me that, in the event that something even more overt and less difficult to explain occurring, there will be a huge number of people showing up.
Bad news (for me at least), the KC protest apparently disintegrated after about an hour (or two if you count the half of the protest that started at 4 to walk across the city).
because I got there at 6 (an hour late, I know) and NO ONE was left.
good news is, at least I have a sign for next time
Big crowd out here in Seattle - they haven't begun the walk yet tho

Just got back from my protest.
I miscalculated both how long it takes to make a sign, and how bad traffic getting into the city was going to be. Rush hour is normally hell getting out, but I didn't think it would be hell going in. I don't know how much blame to apportion to just general shittiness, the piles of construction, and the police being a bit too soon to close roads and erect barricades.
Between that, having to park a mile away, and the site of the protest being moved, I got there about an hour late. Looked like 50 people or so, plus a local news crew. Did some chanting, waved signs around. I brought my own sign (bearing the state motto, "Sic Semper Tyrannis") and two American flags. I had a pile of sign-making supplies but left them in the car because like hell I was going to carry them a solid mile.
Absolutely nobody acted a fool, no counter-protestors showed up, there wasn't even a single heckle from cars driving past (lots of cheers and horns, though!). There were maybe three cops directly keeping an eye on things, but a few blocks away was an entire platoon of State Troopers, barricading the roads by the state Capitol building. I can't blame them for being prepared but I can't help but think they just made the traffic worse, if nothing else.
The protest broke up maybe half an hour after the news cameras left. I stayed til the end, when it was just a half-dozen of us. So total it lasted two hours, me being there for one. Not too bad considering we're close enough to DC that any really serious protestors probably headed there.
The crowd was a mix. Lots and lots of college students, a good number of older Boomer types. Absolutely no Gen Xers, though, at least that I saw. Everyone stayed pretty solidly on-message. I hope the people the news team interviewed did a good job, I haven't been able to find the footage (I don't think it was live).
Given the relatively short notice for the protest, it went about as well as could be expected. Everyone did their part, the message went out and nobody got hurt. Except for me and my aching legs. Those fucking hills, man.
Sad that I couldn't make it today. I'm proud of y'all for going out there and making a difference.
It really doesn't matter if the protest lasts two hours or six. People took time out of their day to show up, and from what I saw, many of the people at the Boston protest don't go to protests often if at all. They stayed for the speeches, some chants, some songs, and once leadership stopped talking, people started leaving. It's the nature of these things. Nothing to worry about. We made our voices heard!
Also, from what I heard the DC protest is expected to go into the weekend, or maybe just restart on Saturday. I heard some people from my local protest talking about driving up for Saturday. It's just a 2-3 hour drive, if I can find some people to carpool with I might be joining in.
There are multiple good possible outcomes.
If Republicans feel like not taking action would threaten their own seats (or potentially their own safety), they might decide to take action NOW rather than leave it for two months. Any politician with half a brain (granted, this isn't many) fears the angry crowd, because they can quickly become an angry mob, and an angry mob can quickly become a revolution and before you know it, you're being walked to the guillotine.
If Trump tries to go full dictator on us, tries to send the military to do something, the clear display of The Will Of The People will make it a lot easier for soldiers to refuse those orders. (They are in fact legally required to, as it would be an unlawful order, but knowing that it would be an unpopular dictatorship they'd be ushering in would be a big factor in actually refusing)
It might make Whitaker hesitate long enough on actually obstructing Mueller for the investigation to proceed to the next step. If simply appointing him caused this much backlash, they'll fear how much backlash there'd be when he actually shuts it down. Waiting would let the furor die down but also buys Mueller time. The optics of "Trump shuts down big nothingburger investigation" and "Trump shuts down investigation that just indicted half his family and named him as an unindicted co-conspirator in collusion case with Russia" are vastly different to Trump supporters, who at this point are basically taking it on faith that Mueller isn't actually investigating Trump and/or is investigating things completely disconnected from the Russian interference.
It invites further pressure. All those corporations hiring lobbyists and making campaign donations to Republicans? They don't want a #ProtectMueller boycott against them, that's bad for business, so they see these angry crowds and start some quiet "stop this shit before it starts costing us money" lobbying. Foreign powers can also use their influence - just a strong condemnation from various allies can have some impact. To quote a movie apparently everyone hated, it's "the spark that will light the fire". Social movements don't just spring up overnight, they have to grow.
Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to see it pick up this weekend; it's hard to start something like this on a Thursday.
Even Alabama joins in
Alabama protesters demand Mueller investigation continues after ..
Yea if that doesnt say Breathe This Penis I'm gunna need you tell me what it does say, because that's all I can see.

Man, if the intent was to get noticed, it sure as hell worked. The footage on the news is amazing.

has Fox aired any distressing and very important reports about endangered dung beetles yet
I tuned in while most other stations were covering it and the current topic was, and I quote, "Can age be fluid just like gender?"
There wasn't a big crowd today but it was big enough and there were very few people who weren't supportive. I'm glad that I went.
How perfectly predictable. And the day that Muller testifies in the House (assuming he does get fired), Fox News will conveniently ignore the entire thing as well. And their baby boomer audience will assume the whole thing was made up, because everything other than Fox is "Fake News."
Several senior officials told CNN they were surprised by the criticism, and believe it could potentially jeopardize Whitaker's chances of remaining in the post if it continues to dominate headlines.
How can you be so out of touch
They quite literally are in a class of their own. Like the difference between how they live and their concerns is so wildly different compared to the average person that they basically cannot understand what the average person thinks or has to deal with. Political and Economical elites are completely disconnected from the rest of reality because of their position.
I like how Trump himself said he was a temp until he could find someone more permanent (what, tough guy didn't have a list of friends for the spot ready? What an impulsive shit) and suddenly they're worried that he might have to leave.
It was not widely known among White House staff that he'd commented repeatedly on the special counsel's investigation in interviews and on television -- which is ironic given that this is what drew President
Donald Trump to him and raises continued questions over the depth of the administration's vetting process.
Trump admin in a nutshell
My older brother was able to drive me to where the protest was at, but it seemed like we were too late as the only ones there were like 4 people talking to each other.
We ended up having a quick discussion about politics, and afterwards me and my brother went to Denny's for the hell of it. Oh well, there's always the next protest.
oh shit I'm probably in this picture somewhere
