The Trump administration seem to be in full damage control mode over this. They don't want his unhinged deflection tantrum being the main headline so they're shifting the angle to make Acosta look violent, because his supporters will blindly buy into that narrative. Of course Fox News are loving it because they accused Acosta of "sort of wrestling this young White House intern." So both the White House and Fox get to discredit CNN and push viewers towards Fox News. They're bashing Acosta so much because they know how disastrous that press conference was, even by Trump's standards.
