https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-46144557 This is just fucking ridiculous.
thought you had to be an adult to work as a judge?
Sack of shit. What the logic he's going for here? That the Dems would release them so he should too?
What a petty little bitch.
Elected judges are a terrible idea.
Have you seen Kavanaugh?
The rough thought process behind denying felons the ability to vote is along the loose lines of "They'll just vote to make crime legal" which is dumb bullshit that doesn't even make sense.
Judges should throw temper tantrums like this more often. Sparing young folks from a terrible retributive justice system is a good thing.
I hope these juveniles go on to break into the home of this former "judge", and steal what's left of his dignity.
Becoming an anarchist to own the libs
Actually punishing the public for making a democratic decision
Get disbarred you cunt.
> When you're evil but throw a tantrum so hard you accidentally do the right thing
Why the fuck are the judiciary elected? Politics =/= law.
not really. Its actually very unusual for a judge to be so overtly political (and stupid). To be an elected judge you usually have to have like 10+ years of experience in the legal field and have a law degree, these aren't just normal smucks
Judges campaign on 'tough on crime' and they end up adding to the problem of the US's burgeoning prison system that has more prisoners than any other country on Earth. Not only that, but many (if not most) judges aren't even lawyers because of this process. Elected judges is a mistake.
Isn't the US literally the only Western country to do this though?
This is completely untrue lol, many judges are often car salesman lmao
It's because in the late 19th century there was push to make more positions elected to improve public participation in the government. Sheriffs are traditionally elected tho since medieval English times I believe.
I can't go into it state by state but my state they are required to have a juris degree, pass the bar and then they can either be appointed or elected
What the fuck? How is this even legal?
Christ, what a titty-baby.
Apparently he likes beer.
Judge Devlin was one of 59 Republican jurists who lost their seats to Democrats on Tuesday, including all three juvenile court judges, the Chronicle reported. let that sink in, in Texas where cruz and abbott won, they just got sacked in the courts across the state. The courts are essential to the bloody red legislature as things like voter suppression are only as legal as a judge sees fit.
Imagine if the crooks this guy released were violent offenders, holy shit.
It really depends on state, PA requires certifications.
