How does trump plan to defeat airplanes
Travel ban expanded to include everything south of Texas.
on the one hand, buying 2000 miles worth of fence for a wall will probably lower the price, on the other hand this is a government appropriation so probably double it.
It looks like the world's worst slalom course.
I can imagine what a historical object this wall will be in the distant post post-apocalyptic world. A monument to the memory of how humanity lost sight of the actual problems being faced today. A dark and ironic symbol of how humans build great things to adress imaginary forces, much like the grand statues, palaces and temples built in the past in the name of gods and mythology, only with less glory and grandeur.
I can already hear people say "He never mentioned how long the wall would be. He just said he would build one and he did. At least he keeps his promises, unlike BARRY HUSSEIN OBONGO"
Long enough to appear to span over the horizon when topography is taken into account so long enough to make a speech in front of it and take pictures calling it a victory.
after the midterm results came in i saw a bunch of people going "THE WALL WAS A METAPHOR HE JUST MEANT HE WAS GONNA MAKE THE BORDER MORE SECURE IN GENERAL"
More of that unhealthy attitude, man it's gotta have some harmful effects down the line.
Fun fact: You could almost double the DHS's Reaper Drone fleet with that much money. Each with a 14 hour flight time and range of about 1,151 miles. With the existing 9 Reaper drones they have, you could easily cover every mile of the border today. Granted, this would probably also require an increase in personnel and funding for helicopters to swoop in and collect migrants/smugglers. After that, it's all up to policy as to whatever you do with them. If we could poof a whole wall along the border tomorrow, it might physically stop people for awhile but they'll eventually just build tunnels and shit. It doesn't actually do anything to address the root cause of why people risk it in the first place. It's a monument to Trumps ego. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f5/MQ-9_Reaper_CBP.jpg
You're all laughing now but in 300 years when inflation has made 50 billion pocket change for poor people Mexico will finally as a measure of good will pay it in it's entirety in one go.
should include texas too
look its the ramblings of a 72 year old man who genuinely believes he's always right and has always been right and never has been that other thing... so obviously the wall is the right solution because he thinks it is.
Crumpling infrastructure, rising healthcare costs, underfunded education nah lets build a glorified 6 mile fence
One would have to convince the GOP that running the government is a decent manner is in their interest. Why run the government competently when the alternative makes a lot more money and power.
Wait so they want to spend $145 million for 6 miles of wall out of the currently remaining 1411 miles when taking the existing barriers along the border into consideration. What's even the fucking point just put the money towards something else at that stage
Oh goody, we'll have to tear it down when we regain control.
across this 6 mile stretch, trump's name will be lit up on the wall 24/7 to intimidate the Mexicans
I can honestly picture it ending up as the https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/220592/815d3709-49b4-4f8f-9eec-9ec900307a68/image.png of border walls.
