I've been out of the loop with Brexit due to American shit going on. Can I get a quick rundown on what has been going on with it since the referendum?

It's almost as people voted for profoundly different forms of Brexit, many of them being cherry pickings of the best bits of each option with none of the downsides.
The conservatives have failed to deliver Brexit. Just cancel it. The only deal we are going to get is basically "all the same downsides with no vote to fix it".

I don't get it, what deal are they expecting that the EU won't simply laugh at before shredding it? What is a "good" deal for Brexiteers?
We've been asking that question for two years and they still don't have an answer.
A good deal is all the benefits of the EU while being under no obligation to ever give anything in return.
And depending on who you ask, it's also the ability to completely shut their borders and keep all Muslims out.
Which is a lovely issue with blatent racism and people being misinformed about our borders even currently. Our borders are already locked down minus for the Irish border, which is where people get in from. Get into Ireland, pass over the border to the north then fuck off into the mainland. There is no way to "fix" this because if we start having a hard border on Ireland we'll be in for the troubles round 2 electric boogaloo.
So yeah whenever someone uses the leave right to keep them migrants out, tell them that leaving won't do jackshit because we need an open border in Ireland and we can not for the love of go police it. Because we'll have bloodshed again if we do.

The hardcore Brexiteers seem to think the only good deal is 'No Deal'
The BBC had a discussion program before May addressed the Commons this morning at 10:30. There were three MPs on one side of the room and a panel on the other who I think were supposed to be ordinary people, but who all had different opinions on Brexit. The lady at the front who argued for Brexit claimed that she wasn't happy with May's deal and wouldn't be happy until we had a 'pro-Brexit' PM (she suggested Boris Johnson when prompted for a name). When pressed on what this would actually change in terms of negotiating, she said that we would be "taking what we want, not asking", causing most people in the room to laugh audibly at her.
Now I'm bias because I have always been in favour of remaining in the EU, but after watching all the coverage this morning, I honestly dread what is going to happen if we don't just call the whole thing off. May has presented this plan which nobody is happy with, and she emphatically stated that there is no deal possible with the EU that doesn't include the 'backstop' arrangement concerning Northern Ireland, which is a huge sticking point for Brexiteers. It seems that in that case, a lot of hard Brexit supporters would rather have no deal, which seems ridiculous. There seems to be a lot of bleating about 'sovereignty' and us having more control than we did before, but there's no realistic way that we could get more 'control' without giving up every benefit available to us.
