I was specifically replying to the statement that the US hasn't won any conflicts of that sort, but I accidentally quoted the whole post, my bad.
Almost all of the successful civil wars and revolutions we've seen in recent history have been in much smaller countries with governments that do not have anywhere near the power or resources that the American government does. Furthermore, they almost all succeed simply because someone else in power helps them to succeed to take more power and influence for themselves and accomplish nothing but shuffling the deck and putting a new dictator just as bad as the last into power.
what price are you willing to pay to avoid a revolution? would you concede away everything to those in power before you stood up and fought?
Every single revolution where the revolutionaries were outnumbered by pro-regime militias succeeded? I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing here.
Maybe those people simply don't buy guns because the possibility that they may need it isn't likely enough for them to consider it worth the cost?
Either way, it doesn't change the fact that the 2A currently results mainly in potential pro-regime groups being armed rather than potential anti-regime ones. So it's not exactly the shield against tyranny that many pro-2A posters portray it as.
We actually have done quiet a few steamrollings in recent years.
