I'm sure the very people who want crap like this have a lot of internet-related things to hide themselves...
Southpark did this, it didn't end well.

You'd think people would be smart enough to understand that some things are better left unknown. Do you really to know everyone's dark, personal online info? For example: I have more interracial amputee videos than youtube has videos. But do I want people knowing about that? Hell no. Luckily I never told anyone so no one will ever know that.
No anonymity online is even more invasive than going outside in real life. It'd be like if you were forced to wear ID with a QR code containing your personal information for anyone you see to freely look up.
The issue is that when it comes to government subversions of liberty and democracy you should always assume that it's going to happen eventually. Just look at the struggle the US is going through right now.
Yes, you're right. And you don't need to completely discard anonymity to accomplish that.
My point was more that these things need to be balanced in moderation and need to err on the side of caution.
Someone earlier in the thread referenced the whole "you have nothing to worry about if you have nothing to hide" bullshit earlier and I think that's really all that needs to be pointed out. Everyone has something to hide. Be it tax returns, voter information, medical records, etc. Having something to hide does not mean you've done anything wrong. And on top of that is the dissidence thing I mentioned earlier. Those things are very vital to a free democracy and the issues that anonymity online causes can be dealt with other ways that don't end up subverting the very values our societies hold.
South Park is a cartoon...
very much so but its funny that the PM of scandanavian country would vow to remove anonymity online just like Southpark
