I've got a scoop for the History Channel then.
It makes a difference when Kushner is constantly over in the Middle East and including Saudi Arabia, trying to make deals -- and they're not primarily deals for America as a whole. This goes beyond "America won't criticize Saudi Arabia because they sell America oil and buy things from their military-industrial complex", this is "the President won't criticize Saudi Arabia because he's a direct business partner with them".
What makes it noteworthy comparatively is that:
He was a US resident;
He was an important journalist;
He was murdered in a consulate;
It just indicates that now countries can kill high-profile journalists in broad daylight without any big repercussions.
