US fires teargas at asylum seekers as Mexico border crossing closed

Throwing half truths and generic insults isnt NPC behavior? At least Im able to form a counter argument without throwing names around.
It reminds me of a conversation that happened here a while ago with a poster saying they should line the border with landmines and the only thing that changed his mind was that it would be financially inefficient and any ethic or moral reasons was answered with "they shouldn't be crossing in the first place"
I can't believe we're slowly getting to that point, but not surprised
Its always apparent when an argument flounders and fails. The NPCs always go from spouting disinformation and half truths straight to insults.
Disappointing.
I wouldn't say those cases are always justifiable either tbh, depends on the law being broken. Mass rioting, violence etc? I'd be more likely to understand but this seems to be catching a lot of unarmed refugees including children in this mess.
And the social media propaganda pushing the "mine the border" meme was, surprise, revealed to have been part of Russian ops.
Nah you can't walk away from this one, that shouldn't be allowed regardless. Theres a difference between soldiers with skull tattoos and armed police with "GET FUCKED" personally customised onto their rifle
If the proper channels worked, they wouldn't be crossing this way. Also, seeking asylum can only be done ONCE IN THE COUNTRY YOU MORON. IT IS NOT ILLEGAL. Please accept this
What? Can we stop with the dumb memes and shitslinging at each other.
Christ I didn't know that. It's mind blowing finding out how many baffling political takes are actually propaganda
Still waiting for an answer: if all the legal avenues are denying everyone, how else are they supposed to get in?
I mean, if there really isn't a lot of gray here, as you said, this shouldn't be hard to answer, right?
He still shot someone under unreasonable circumstances, even if he wasn't giving the orders. Maybe we shouldn't have badass wannabe cops with hair-triggers be acquitted, so that we don't get any more badass wannabe cops with hair triggers. You act like that's some ace in the hole or something when it's just a small part of the story. Cops have been failed to been hold accountable on many, many instances besides this one for shootings. I just cited one example and you go crazy about some weird specifics that don't matter to my point.
Dude, with your new name and a couple of your phrasings in this thread, can you not see how you look a lot like a troll at this point? Even if you're not, please try and debate more politely. I've seen you behave like this in gun control threads before and you got banned for it, so it's just not in your best interest.

Sure showed dem libcucks.
Actually, never mind - there's no way this isn't threadshitting at this point. Jeez...
You've always been a mudslinging jerk with terrible uninformed takes, but did you fall down a flight of stairs or something? You're just being a prick for the sake of being a prick like this is 4chan.
can i just comment on the irony of only caring what a Chinese room is after someone else tells you to use it in an argument?
So just because its not efficient enough you can just ignore it? If you have a murderer on trial and its taking too long you can just shoot them and get straight to the execution?
If you dont like the way the current law is you have to work to change it not just shrug your shoulders and say "oh just break the law its stupid law anyway"
Border patrol is doing their job to uphold the law as it is, and teargas is a lot better than shooting at them.
The administration is fucking around with the laws to try to cut off as many legal remedies as possible that were in place to allow reasonable processes for asylum, don't act like everything is hunky dory in that regard.
And here you are comparing the situation with refugees seeking a better life to murderers, trying to muddy the waters and equate the two. That's complete poison and you know it.

While I can't really approve of the way they're handling this, it's miles better than what the US's Middle Eastern ally does when confronted with large amounts of people at their border. I hope this gets resolved peacefully and without injuries. Best of luck to the asylum seekers.
It feels like there's a lot of people with no clue about what's going on here. I'm included in that, but it's interesting to see the discussion going in circles when there are so strongly contrasting arguments, such as:
The tear gassing is justified because they are illegally crossing the border, and the law is just being upheld
They are not illegally crossing the border, because seeking asylum is legal, and requires the crossing of the border
They are crossing the border illegally, but it is justified because the legal means don't work
If the second point is true, the other two are ostensibly false (unless they don't intend to seek asylum). So, can anyone back up the claim that crossing the border without any approval of any kind, and then seeking asylum, is legal?
this post is how you get literally everyone to immediately tune out of anything you have to say
if your goal was to convince people, you've failed
Please back this up? This thread has shown that even some supporters of those crossing believe it to be illegal, but merely think it is morally justified. If you have a good source that proves this, it needs to be saved by everybody, to be ready to confront people like TearGasIllegals and other uninformed people who believe that crossing the border must be a crime.

Time to go put you back into the shed. Cause christ you are a Tool.
His goal was to shitpost, the name change and usage of the npc meme makes that abundantly clear.
Hey guy, maybe the law is unjust and racist. Maybe instead of thoughtlessly assuming the law is moral and correct you can look into what the Trump administration has been doing, which has been a transparently bigoted political stunt to strangle the proper channels in an attempt to deny people the legal right to asylum. First they're saying now you have to request asylum at a port of entry, when the law explicitly allows you declare asylum so long as you're on US soil. Now they're actively turning people away from the port of entry you're telling them to use. They ARE trying to use the proper channels. People are trying to cross the fence because they're poor and hungry and fleeing violence and they're being herded like cattle in one of the busiest border crossings in the world. The Trump administration is forcing them to stay in Mexico because they are not interested in letting in asylum seekers because the administration is full of far right racists and political charlatans. They're the fucking criminals here, not these largely innocent and powerless people.
what was the gameplan here for them, why all rush the border at once? did nobody tell them it was gettibg militarized? what were they planning on doing afterwards?
Fairly appropriate response to people who started to run at the fence. Walking calmly up to the fence might not have warranted getting tear-gased.
I mean you're technically correct in calling it a chemical agent, but sensationalizing it is as "CHEMICAL AGENTS ON CIVILIANS" is going to to make people think they're launching fucking mustard gas at people.

"Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, which prohibits non-nationals from entering or attempting to enter the United States at any time or place which has not been designated by an immigration officer, and also prohibits non-nationals from eluding inspection by immigration officers."

In order for them to enter the US they have to go through the designated border crossings and be subject to searches, which they are not. This is why boarder patrol is stopping them.
