• Bernie Sanders: I will probably run in 2020 if I'm the best person to beat Trump

If a Democrat won in 2016 there would have been no blue wave and Republicans would have spent the next four years not even bothering to hold a vote for replacement judges. It's kind of crazy to think about the SC being two down for four years.
Or even worse passed legislation to reduce the size of the court so POTUS wouldn't be able to make appointments like they did with Andrew Johnson.
Gore did win. When the republicans lied and blocked due process, all the democrats did was angrily shake fists and shuffle their feet around. YOu sit around and let tribal sociopaths dictate your life, cause you think it'll never happen to you, this is what you get.

fuck off, you would be too old for this shit
You weren't even the best candidate to beat Hillary, so nah.
There's little point getting Trump out if he's just going to be replaced by yet another establishment neo-liberal war hawk so as it stands, Bernie still feels like the best bet given he's one of the only DemSoc in federal US politics who is charismatic, well known and incredibly experienced.
You already have a totally different set of policies than what was voted for given how Trump only got 46.1% of the total voting population vs. Hillary's 48.2% of the voting population. And of the total population Trump got about 19.5% lmao
Oh god this is funny, you currently have a geriatric in the Oval Office, with a snake in the VP position, with a totally different executive and set of policies than was objectively voted for by the American people, but it's OK if it's Trump right.
tbqh I don't care if he's so old he dies in office I'm sure his VP would be fine too

it just dawned on me how much would have been different if he had actually won, would america be fighting endless wars in the middle east right now?
Don't make me come over there
Honestly thinking about it we don't know how much weight the term "socialism" still has in attack ads. Hammer Bernie enough with the S word and it could bring him down.
lol, the only reason he didn't make it to primaries was because of the short-sighted DNC basically ignoring him and treating him like an enemy in preference of Clinton, which backfired in a huge way. can't exactly get past the first round when the judges are being paid off to treat you like a pariah
I would argue that being able to articulate that kind of advantage over your opponents makes Hillary better at politics.
it's not "better at politics", it's "better at marketing". That and hillary is a corporate stooge so of course people would throw their money at her because she will protect their interests while Bernie would have worked to dismantle this ridiculous oligarchy. You're from Brazil, surely you should be able to recognize naked corruption
call someone a socialist and they have my vote
I don't want someone who is willing to cheat for her own personal gain. If she were being tricky and cunning in a way that benefited her constituents then maybe that's "good politicking" but this was solely for her own gain. Why the fuck would you want someone like that?
I think 9/11 happening wasn't something that would change. Security would still be beefed up, and we'd still be down a neighboring path. Hopefully there would be less of an engagement in the Middle East.
There will not be a Sanders / O'Rourke ticket because Bernie and Beto are two radically different people. Sanders often makes endorsements of local candidates on Twitter, and Beto was not one of these candidates. Now why do I find this important as it's just Twitter endorsements? Well the meat of my conclusion is where the money is: campaign contributions. Beto made 32 million dollars in campaign contributions in the range of 2017-2018 Bernie made less than a million in between 2013-2018 Beto O'Rourke accepts donations from Large banks (Wells Fargo, Bank of America, JP Morgan & Chase, Goldman Sachs), Mega corporations (Tech industry in particular, Facebook, Apple, Microsoft, Intel), ISPs that are against net neutrality (AT&T, and Verizon), Oil companies (Exxon Mobil, Royal Dutch Shell) Also there is more personal involvement with local politics since I live in the state of Texas I had been trying to keep up with what Beto had been doing here. He was not in support of Single Payer health care when he originally ran here in Texas until after he won the General Election. This man talks of progressive ideas, but this talk serves as a Trojan horse for malicious intentions. I am very sad that people fall pretty to rhetoric especially in the Democratic party of all places. All of this took a simple search on OpenSecrets. This man is bending over for corporations. He's 77, the current Prime Minister of Malaysia is 93, the President of Tunisia is 91. You can be old and still run a country as long as you're healthy enough.
It's not the kind of people you want, but it's the kind of people that wins. And from the party standpoint, that's what matters.
Derek Zoolander and Mugatu couldn't even kill the Prime Minister of Malaysia, age won't do it. I'd like to think Bernie is stronger than him.
The dude voted for the Dodd Frank repeal and goes with Trump about three times more then Bernie. Still a good contender though since literally anyone's better than Trump.
"We need someone who can win," claim Democrats who just lost to a hilariously incompetent reality TV star, when every poll showed Bernie leading Trump by double digit points. Get the fuck outta here and worry about your fascist president in Brazil, thanks.
The guy is like Obama 2.0 and everyone is desperate for something other than Trump.
I love it when people who have displayed nothing but dripping condescension and contempt for the Democrats try and give "advice" for how they can win.
All of these candidates were also too old. I'm sure you'll see why if (god help us) the President wins another term.
If the problem with Hillary was that she couldn't carry the Obama coalition as well, why would you want Bernie instead of someone like Biden? The number of people who wanted a candidate more liberal than Obama was limited, and they're distributed in such a way it provokes splits on things other than ideology, see here. Take it from me, I had the chance to volunteer for a Bernie rally in one of the more diverse blue states. It was overwhelmingly young, male, and white in that order. Bernie underperformed with non-white, registered Democratic, moderate/conservative Democrats, and older voters. Some of these groups Clinton didn't carry as well as Obama in the Rust Belt, she crucially did worse with non-white voters. Progressivism in general seems to apply mostly to young college-bound or educated whites, Bernie outperforming Clinton the best in the 50-99k group and self-identified progressives being one of the higher earners in the recent report on 'hidden tribes'. While Bernie has surprise wins in places like Wisconsin and otherwise seemed to speak to areas hurt by deindustrialization and outsourcing more than Clinton, I'm not sure if there's enough reason to believe he'd beat Trump in appealing to those people since they old union demographic that has been declining in the Democratic party isn't the same as the millenial progressive one. They're much more conservative, for one.
