I'm pretty sure Mueller knew the answers to every question he would ask Trump.
Well IIRC Nixon wouldn't have been put on the spot and later resign from the break-in alone, but the fact that he tried to cover it all up.
I think no one would have known even about the break in if some White House staffer didn't carelessly leave a file out in the open or something like that.
release the pee tapes
IIRC it was a janitor that noticed there were pieces of tapes over the doors keeping them from locking properly.
Mueller: "I worked on this investigation for a year and he just... lied to the FBI........"
The story is very complicated.

I encourage everyone to listen to this podcast detailing the history of the Nixon-Watergate era.
Nixon was only impeached because a conspirator of the watergate break in, had a conscience, and told the truth about it.
Yeah, when they ask questions like this they don't ask about something they don't know. They check it all in advance.
Would be nice if the tweet embeds weren't broken for me, i'm missing some juicy bits.
I can't believe Mueller just tweeted for the first time and announced that he's arresting Trump:

It's my birthday and my car is finally leaving the shop after it's final engine rebuild.
Today's a good day indeed.
saying they weren’t aware Mueller or the FBI could indict witnesses who lied to Congress.
Just how fucking green is the White House staff that none of them seem to know that lying to Congress is a crime and that the FBI prosecutes people who commit federal crimes?
No one competent would want to work in the dumpster fire that is the Trump Whitehouse, so I imagine there was a massive brain drain when he took over.
I still feel this isn't the smoking gun everyone's been looking for, as much as it is hoped to be.. Even though this is pretty damning, somehow Trump is just going to slide out of this one yet again...
Oh, there was a well-documented brain drain, but good fuck it seems it was even worse than I thought.
Also Trump's still lagging far behind in cabinet appointments, as far as I'm aware. The only thing the Senate's been doing is ramming circuit judges through at a terrifying rate. Which reveals the GOP's real endgame -- they know this administration is a joke and is essentially half-staffed and non-functional, they're playing the long game and looking to control the mechanisms of the government for a generation after the immediate fire is put out.
The best fucking timeline. I am so happy to be alive.
The federal judicary is so big there must be pretty big turnover, there's still Reagan judges that will get replaced by Untited Democrat President in 2021
Just like my greatgrandparents didn't know about the crimes of the Nazi's. Except they did.
