I think that Donald Trump will be a good thing for the world in the long run, standing as a modern easily-cited example of what happens when the GOP gets their way. He's getting people out and voting, This I can see and people will STAY out and voting as long as people are alive to remember what happened with Trump. This not so much

The democrats are going about progress the wrong way and will most certainly get fucked again I abhor how unashamedly blind everyone (including myself) is to their "own side". Pro Trump? Then it the lying medias fault. Anti-trump? Then everything he does is awful. Hats just one example but I am honestly disgusted with myself most of all. I am a conservatively leaning moderate by american standards but I find myself each and every day becoming a contrarian to anything like the aforementioned example. I hate how aggressive the LGBT community around me has been. You preach tolerance and acceptance yet when I say that I believe something different to their prescribed beliefs all I am is a close minded, bigot. But the worst part is I am actually becoming a close minded bigot. I find myself calling people faggots more often and genuinely having spite towards the community as a whole while still enjoying the company of my individual lgbt friends. Because of how much I dislike their tactics and conformity, I am actually becoming an awful degenerate. It is the same thing with Racism: I hate how these white actors patronize minorities in this country by saying "I have to use my white privilege to speak for the poor niggers" Like HOLY FUCK. The ONLY reason minorites have rights today is because they stood up and fought for them for the last 200 years. I ABHOR the fact that the new generation of minorities are being bamboozled by cultural elites and are essentially spitting on the graves of their ancestors. And wanna know what I do? I start muttering to myself "Damn niggers" or "Gook..." or "Faggot ass greaser." I am literally becoming racist just out of spite. I am seemingly becoming more and more contrarian each passing week but in all honesty non of this matters. Climate change? I honesty don't know nor do I care. I have enough problems as it is: Why worry about the cancer in my body when there is a gun to my head? Trumps blatant lies and scandals? I honestly get my popcorn and enjoy each second of it because the media is playing Trumps game and is losing at every turn. Like Jesus Christ nothing else matters to me. Like in Voltaires Candide, I think Im gonna focus on my relationship with God and how I can make the lives of those around me better than mine. I hope this godforsaken country falls apart into absolute anarchy because none of it matters to me anymore. I just want to make my garden grow. School shootings/gun violence in America isn't because of the guns, it's because America is a violent shithole filed with trash human beings who genuinely don't care about each other. It's so comically over the top it feels like it isn't real. Not everyone in that country is bad, but you're starting to give a couple other countries who are notorious for being violent a run for their money. I don't exactly think that a wall is economically feasible-but the idea behind it is necessary. Polidicks started off with "illegal immigrants should be allowed in the US" to they're "refugees" as though they were fleeing war (and show us-what war are they fleeing?) Some come to the US to work but the flow of money is leaving the United States into the hands of Mexicans (and probably most of you will find this offensive-but that's their nationality-NOT their race, so we need to call them what they are. There are brown Americans and white Mexicans. The color doesn't matter.) This presents a major national security risk to the economic system in the United States-it cannot support unbudgeted loss with no benefit (Americans lose jobs, become drug addicted, and that money goes to the cartels which end up killing Americans.) If we are to defend ourselves, we need to do it now, and the only way to do so is deterrence. A wall can be dug under, flown over, boated around, so I agree that it's a terrible idea, but we can't treat illegals like they are citizens. They give up their rights when they cross that border, and the very reason we have this problem is because of how soft we've gone on them. The basic principal of access denial is stronger when a threat of bodily harm is present, so having a 200 meter (marked where it begins) mine field could be a strong deterrent (and nobody will risk taking their family over, so the only ones that will cross are cartel members), so permanent imprisonment is also an option for those that make it across. The mines could withstand a pressure of, maybe, 90 pounds (give or take, research should be done), so the only people that will hurt themselves are not children, and therefore knowingly harming themselves. It's a much cheaper option, and even if the mines were spaced out every 500 meters-who would actually take the risk? As long as one person gets blown up by one, the deterrence will work. VERY few people have been killed along the North Korean - South Korean DMZ by mines, but they have been extremely effective in preventing a well trained military force from crossing-even they can't cross with anti-mine technology, so a civilian intruder probably won't risk it either. With that said, I'm probably going to be labeled racist or something-but just keep a few things in mind-I only want to prevent invasive forces from harming Americans, I don't care about race at all. I wouldn't even consider myself right wing-sure, maybe in this one area, but in most areas I am left wing. I support LGBTQ rights, I support stronger gun control legislation (but not outright banning of guns, I just think it should be more difficult to acquire them so only those trustworthy and over 23 can get them), I voted Hillary (would not again though, and would not ever vote Trump), and support socialized healthcare. It's when it comes to national security that I believe stronger force should be applied; yesterday's Al-Qaeda murdering thousands of Americans is today's illegal immigration. One is direct killing, the other is indirect killing, but both are still getting Americans killed. Ultimately, the authorized use of force-if legitimate threat is backing it, saves more lives than it kills. Sure, one person may die crossing the border, sure, a few illegal immigrants will spend their lives in prison, but less people will die overall since they will never take actions that lead to deaths in the first place. Polidicks in general seems to fall for the propaganda that illegal immigrant supporters spout, so I don't blame anyone for that, it's just time to start looking at the facts. With that said, sorry for the long read, and tl;dr illegal immigration is a serious issue and I believe that our-my country, deserves to maintain its borders. They're there for a reason. Democratic politicians only care about minorities because they are an easy voting base to manipulate with promises of equity and handouts. And because the US is quickly going to become a minority-majority nation, they want to get their foot in the door and get them to reliably vote Democratic for decades to come. I've always found it funny that we talk so much about how Democrats should move to appeal to Republican voters, yet the thought of Republicans appealing to minorities is so laughable it's not even on the table. Am I wrong in thinking there are no serious movements to push for this among the conservatives who actually have any sort of influence?

The only two solutions I see to this is that left-leaning posters just stop posting, which is obviously never going to happen (nor should it) or that right-leaning posters need to post more.

There is a lack of users willing to voice alternate viewpoints due to a major left bias and fierce reaction to anything else stifles debate on many topics. The issue is that those who do post their alternate viewpoints largely post very poorly reasoned arguments so they quickly have their arguments blown out of the water. Those that post valid alternative viewpoints do so and it goes over fine for the most part but they also post those viewpoints more rarely in comparison to the idiots posting poorly reasoned viewpoints.

I just find it extremely entitled to say that the reason your opinion isn't popular has absolutely nothing to do with the subject itself nor the way you are presenting it, but because other people are just not tolerant enough, and that if less people who disagreed with you posted on a message board you would feel more comfortable posting yourself. Shows a real lack of conviction in whatever it is you believe. Like if your post is being rated dumb by twenty people and seven other people are replying to you why your idea is dumb, that doesn't mean your idea is dumb, but maybe just attempt a little bit of introspection before blaming everyone else?

Yeah, I've pointed out on multiple occasions over the past few months where someone was saying people were misinterpreting their posts that maybe they should put some more effort into making sure they're clearly communicating their point since it's obviously not coming across the way they intended. I don't think a single one of them has so much acknowledged that possibility though, let alone actually trying to take my advice. It could also legitimately be that their idea is simply bad and people are trying to explain why. When you're trying to explain something to someone and they're just not getting it no matter how much effort you put into your explanation it tends to get frustrating and that frustration can show.

I don't have an answer to this question but I don't think it's a coincidence that a big talking point for traditional right/alt-right groups is both degrading universities and pushing voter fraud conspiracies. There is nothing wrong at all about not going to college (I'm not going to college and don't have any current plans to) and there is nothing wrong with learning a trade but you really have to wonder why it seems one party actively preaches against higher education while the other one wants to make it as accessible as possible.

I've actually had discussions with a friend on this subject. On a number of occasions he's gotten frustrated discussing things with me and basically the entire basis of his frustration stemmed from the fact he was legitimately wrong in each of those cases. It took quite a few discussions on the same subject over like 6-7+ months before my explanations finally sunk in for him. I was right in those instances because I put out the necessary effort to educate myself on the subject before forming my opinion. And when it turned out I was actually wrong, which is a rare occurrence due to the first part, I would readily admit it so it easily got overlooked. Once that finally sunk in for him he got a lot less frustrated about admitting he was wrong when it was shown pretty conclusively to him.

I understand this because it's affected my judgement when it comes to posts. I've made posts that were box warehouses with several people disagreeing with me and in the moment I thought I was justified in my beliefs but in hindsight I realized that I was definitely in the wrong. It's this personal experience that leads me to believe that if a lot of people disagree with your viewpoint your first reaction shouldn't be to immediately disqualify their opinions without examining your idea first.

If somebody unironically says that it's a good idea to mine the US-Mexico border because a few blasted corpses make for good scarecrows, you can bet your bottom dollar I'm not going to be too happy about that, or be accepting of it. I've already tried explaining why shit like that is stupid for the better part of two years, and I'm done with it.
